I just found out that my sister-in-law and niece, who is 20, are going to fly out to Vegas, so my niece can attend this. I had never heard of it until just now, but it sounds like a feast for all senses, and then some.
My SIL is planning to chill out at her hotel on the Strip and maybe gamble a little, and my niece is going to do her thing. My niece loves electronic music, so this will be right up her alley. The website indicates that a lot of other things are going on, so if no bands that she likes are playing, she can find something else to do.
Has anyone else here attended this, or something like it?
Ive done my share of such things back in the early/mid 2000s. I think I even did an EDC in LA. Though I can’t remember if it was downtown or up in the mountains or in the desert. I went to a LOT of EDM shows back then. They were definitely fun. Not sure how you or you SIL or niece feel about drugs, but back in my day, there was plenty of it going around. I know I did my fair share. But big shows like that are usually really safe from the nae’r do wells that some of the shady small gang-run shows suffer from.
Im sure she’ll have a blast! Just thinking about a festival makes a my joints, and my wallet, ache anymore. Ive got tons of great yet hazy memories from my time in the scene that I’d never want to lose them.
Thankfully, what with internet and all, I can watch video of the big DJ sets from the comfort of my couch and large speakers and can drink beer that doesn’t cost $15 each. And I don’t have to worry about being in a possible super spreader event.
That said, nothing beats a well engineered big ass PA system and a huge crowd of friendly, sweaty people having fun.
