I’d like to have an adapter made that would allow me to hook my camcorder into an aircraft communications intercom.
I don’t know what the impedence is on an aircraft communications system, but checking out an equipment catalogue it looks like civilian aircraft radio gear is 150 ohms. (There are adapters at the bottom of the page.) My camcorder manual says the external microphone 1/4" (dia.) jacks are “-66db low impedence”.
The physical connection would be a male type 38 plug on a short cord that is split into a type 88 (?) 1/4" male plug and a type 38 female plug, with the male plug going to the camcorder and the female plug going to the passenger headset.

Would I need some sort of impedence converter to A) boost the signal so it can be audible on the tape, or B) lower the signal so it doesn’t fry the audio circuits in the camcorder?
-
What would happen if I didn’t use a converter? Would the audio not be audible, or would it do Bad Things to the camcorder circuits?

If the headset uses 150 ohms and the camcorder doesn’t, and if there is no converter for the camcorder, will that affect the audibility of the passenger’s headset? Since it is plugged into the intercom, will it affect both the pilot’s and passenger’s headsets?
