Elephant Ears & Funnel Cake...recipies??

Well, it’s that time of the year…when I trudge all over to County Fairs, Festivals & Carnivals…all in order to feed the monkey on my back.

Yes…I’m a fried dough junkie.

And it’s finally occurred to me…instead of going to all of these god-awful places to satisfy my cravings…why don’t I just make this stuff at home? After a quick check of all of our cookbooks, I wasn’t able to locate any recipies for this food of the gods.

So…I ask you fellow Dopers: Does anyone know how to make Elephant Ears or Funnel Cake in the privacy of one’s own kitchen? It doesn’t look like it would be too hard…but then again, every time I make french fries I come close to burning the house down…

oooh … yummy the best thing about fairs other than animals is the food

Ive been told is you can use any doughnut recipie thats deep fried and make them

But be warned there cheating at the fairs and using pancake mix to make them now

You beat me to it!After reading the recipe links it’s exactly how you make pancake batter from scratch.

So all you need,apparently, is some pancake mix (the kind that you don’t add eggs to) and a funnel.Water it down to the consistency of a pancake or crepe.

Always wondered what was the fuss over those things having encountered it at Mth Park and thought it was merely a waffle.It is!!
