Elisabeth Waldo's birth date

Can anyone, please, let me have Elisabeth Waldo’s birthdate ? (she is an American composer). Is she still living ? I’ve searched Google, Alltheweb, Wikipedia no results.

She’s definitely still living as she played a live concert in California last Sunday.

I’m still looking for birth date.

Article in LA Times, 1945, says she was 22 at that point.

She married Carl Dentzel, in 1948.

Do you need to know the exact day and month? Are you trying to send her a card?

Just the year, thanks.

(She would probably ignore a card from a non-person)

She’s still alive and giving concerts?! Wow! I just bought one of her sacred rites albums yesterday… assumed she was older when those were recorded, and long gone…

The U.S. census taken on 1 April 1930 has:

  1. Elizabeth Waldo, age 8, born in New York, res. Tarpon Springs, Florida (thus, born April 1921-April 1922).
  2. Elizabeth T. Waldo, age 9, born in Massachusetts, res. Newton, Mass. (thus, born April 1920-April 1921).
  3. Elizabeth V. Waldo, age 7, born in North Carolina, res. Cary, North Carolina (thus, born April 1922-April 1923).

Those three apparently don’t fit. Her biography says she began her musical career on the family ranch, which borders the Yakima Native American Reservation in Washington State. She began to sing at age three…
Sanclem, post 3, seems to have the best guess.

Thanks everyone !

Best Guess!!! I gave you a newspaper cite from the time that said she was born(by inference) in 1923.

I think you should also take much of her biographical info from websites with a grain of salt. I just read a few, and while I think the basic info is correct, they tend to leave out the influence her late husband, Carl Dentzel had on her and her interest.

I haven’t delved deeply into this. I’m just saying don’t accept everything that someone says about themselves at face value.

I’ll try to search some more some night this week.

A-ha! Sounds like Miss Waldo was fibbing about her age in 1945.

From the U.S. census taken on April 1, 1930:

  1. Elizabeth A. Waldo, age 12, born in Washington state, res. in West Parker, Yakima County, Washington (thus, born April 1917-April 1918). Daughter of Benjamin (railroad telegrapher) and June Waldo.

From the U.S. census taken on January 1, 1920:

Elizabeth A. Waldo, age 2, born in Washington state, res. in Walnut Grove, Benton County, Washington (thus, born in 1917). Daugher of Benj. F. (farmer) and Jane Waldo.

Great efforts to answer my query ! I appreciate.
