'Elp - anybody know this Kung Fu movie?

This one been bugging me for ages.

The setup is the classic “dad dies at the hands of an evil doer and son gets revenge”. The unique part is that the only training material he has is his father’s old Tiger Style training manuals, which has been multilated by rats. Specifically, all the hand movements were taken out. He solved this problem by filling in all the blanks with Crane Style he’s been learn off his mum in the meanwhile. This he gets all the power of Tiger Style and all the grace and agility of Crane Style.

Needless to say, he finally defeats the badguy. I think there may have been an eye-gouging scene, but I might be wrong.

Anybody know this movie?

I’ll just bump this once.

Hey, let’s try a bit of reverse psychology!
I thought it might be a bit too tough for the SDMB;) I guess no one’s seen it.

Do you remember any scenes where the main character had to learn how to stand up without being knocked over? There was a special stance he had to learn. Well, if so, I’d like to know the name of this movie, too.

Executioners From Shaolin / Hung Hsi-Kuan?

From here, discussing the movie and its remake, Fists of the White Lotus:

BINGO! Thanks jmizzou. It’s great to finally put a name to the movie.

Inicidently, I never realised that Gordon Liu (recently in Kill Bill vol 1/2) acted in the movie.

Well, Quentin Tarantino’s references just get deeper and deeper, don’t they? Gordon Liu was Pai Mei in Kill Bill… and when fighting the Bride, she spoke of her prowess with (IIRC) Tiger and Crane style Kung Fu. Fascinating, Captain. :dubious:

You mean like in Five Fingers of Death?

Haven’t seen that one. Nope, eye plucking is a semi-staple of gory kung fu flicks. In the really cheap productions, they just roll a glass eye from out of frame; I’ve also seen a case where they use a blue eye instead of brown. Must have been selling them cheap in Asia, being a hard to shift stock and all.

I was pleasently surprised by Tarantino’s eye in KBv2. He must have used a sheep’s eye…
