He was born to a surrogate mom on a Christmas Day
When the New York Times said “It’s gonna snow”
And gays should be wed
Elton & David had a son today
Yesterday I read about this gay couple having a child and I thought, “That’s just so WRONG . . .”
They’re way too old for this!
Oh well, I guess if Tony Randall can father a child with one foot in the grave . . .
Merged duplicate threads and put the resulting thread in Cafe Society.
That was my initial thought - being gay isn’t the issue, but surely having a dad past 60 should be (even if the baby does have a back up).
For straught guys too?
Being 30+ years older than my kids it’s already challenging to relate to them. Another 30 years would make us aeons apart, not to mention the very good possibility of my being dead before they’re out of high school.
That would apply whether I was straight, queer, trans or even tortoise.
My dad was 60 when I was born and it worked out well for us.
Life holds no guarentees: Will Reeve was born to two healthy young parents.
Congrats to Elton & David, and is lyricist Bernie Taupin psychic or what?
We’ll have to wait and see if he turns out to be a good man.
Enjoy,
Steven
Well, given the time frames, his kid Jesus could very well go to Venus…
The back up, David Furnish, is 48 himself, so it’ll basically be like getting brought up with grandparents. Not that there’s anything wrong with that etc yadda blah, but I personally certainly agree that 111 is an older than ideal cumulative age for parents; for perspective that’s several more years that Mr. & Mrs. Tony Randall had (he was in his late 70s but she was 50 years younger).
I think 80 is about as old as two parents age should add up; after that the odds are way too good for ‘at least half orphaned before adulthood’.
I don’t see it as an age issue as much as a celebrity issue. Gay or straight, a couple of rich celebrities who will dump the kid on a nanny once the novelty wears off
Maybe, but I’ll bet the kid will be pretty well off financially and can afford to hire a few new designer parents.
More likely he’ll be raised first by Elton and Furnish, then after Sir Elton’s funeral by Furnish and his new 22 year old Uncle Spike.
What are the odds he will be straight?
As good as the odds of all the gay children brought up by straight parents?
He who? Uncle Spike? Probably pretty slim, but you never know. Even Sir Elton grazed in the other pasture for a spell.
