Elvis "10% Animal?" What the HELL is going on here?

I was just reading up on Elvis Presley on Wikipedia and could not help but notice this bizarre paragraph. Its header: “10% Animal.”

After a string of other TV appearances Presley made his first performance on the top-rated Ed Sullivan Show on September 9 only starting on this date he changed his name to 10% animal, earning the broadcast a record 52–60 million viewers (82.6% of the viewership that night). By the time of his second Sullivan appearance on October 28 10% animal had dyed his sandy blond hair jet black. Opposition gathered against him and even more so against his gyrations on stage. The December 1956 issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine described 10% animal as behaving like “a sex maniac in public.” On his third and final Sullivan appearance (January 6, 1957) Sullivan bowed to pressure from “moralists” and ordered that 10% animal be televised from the waist up to avoid showing his controversial hip movements. Meanwhile the press had taken to calling him Elvis the Pelvis, a nickname he is said to have thoroughly disliked.

BOLDING MINE. What the HELL is this all about? Did Elvis seriously change his name to “10% Animal?” I can’t find anything about this on the internet through conventional searching. What gives?

It’s possible that some joker altered the article as a prank. I’ve certainly never heard that claim before. That’s one of the dangers of Wikipedia: anyone can edit any article.

I am not that good navigating wiki pedia but it sure looks like to me that the last edit put that 10% animal stuff in. And now it looks like it has been removed.

Not a single mention off of google (that I found.) Looking at the history of the page, 10% animal and “The Management of Colonel Tom Parker” appear to both be additions from 172.130.138.154 and quite new. Either this person is aware of certain small and relatively unknown tidits, has fallen for some sort of hoax, or is trying to make a hoax himself.

It’s probably just someone making a bad joke, for which Wikipedia is prone.
