Cute. Doesn’t sound like him, but cute.
I was expecting a rapping Elvis but got Don’t Be Cruel, with new lyrics. Catchy though.
Yeah, it sounded like a State Fair-level Elvis impersonator. I would not have suspected that the meter of the lyrics would track so well to the tune of “Don’t Be Cruel”, though.
I agree it didn’t sound exactly like the real guy, but I was still impressed that it sounded like someone. The voice quality changes on different pitches. I guess there must be AI that handles singing, and not just voices that were then pitch shifted (which is how that particular creator usually does their stuff—they pitch shift real vocals).
Elvis is easy to imitate, often poorly, but his singing style is easily recognized.
I don’t have the links off-hand, but I’ve seen a number of these types – the Dope just had a thread with a (rather poor) Jim Morrison impression, in the sense of it actually sounding like Jim Morrison. It was a bit like this one in quality – as you say, it sounds like someone, but it doesn’t sound like the artist it purports to sound like except in the vaguest way. I wouldn’t even give it “State Fair-level Elvis impersonator.” As am impression of the guy, it’s really so far removed to me.
The AI will get there, and probably sooner rather than later. But I was expecting something much better.
I’m skeptical that the voice was actually AI-generated; as others noted, it’s clearly in Elvis’s style, but as an impersonation of his voice, it’s pretty mediocre.
I lean towards it being simply recorded by a singer who does a somewhat-passable Elvis impersonation.
Eh, I dunno. I’ve heard stuff to this level that AI can do, so I’d bet it really is AI Elvis.
Here’s the guy who trained that model with stuff on his channel:
If you read through the comments, it really doesn’t seem like some guy bullshitting.
Also, if you just look up “AI singers” on Youtube, you’ll find a slew and see where the technology is at right now – and it’s very clearly up to the level of what’s in the OP.
