Warning - the link contains a picture with bare breasts - she’s incredibly skinny, but they’re still (barely) there
I just received an email with a few pictures of supposed high-fashion models that are completely emaciated - concentration camp survivors have more body fat than these skeletal women. The pictures don’t appear completely real, however - they have that slightly photoshopped look to me. I couldn’t find anything about Snopes on this, and I don’t know if this has been discussed here before, or if this is old news (my search turned up nothing).
Anybody have the (I almost said “skinny” - change that to) straight dope on this?
No links to back me up, just my gut feeling that they’re faked photos. I Googled models and looked at a number of pictures. The women are thin, yes, but they have enough flesh over the bones to look smooth.
Looks to me like real model head superimposed on anorexic bodies. Can people actually be this skinny? Yes, we have a name for it- an eating disorder. Do some people find this attractive? Yes, disgustingly so. There are numerous “pro-anorexia” communities out there. While the photoshopping of these models was pretty good, the skin tone doesn’t match from head to body in some cases, and the faces of the models are too “full” to match the skeletal frames. But barely.
Anyway, that was yucky. Please beat whoever sent that email to you with a stick for me.
I have seen a debunking of these photos elsewhere - it wasn’t snopes - with copies of the actual photos before they were altered. They are indeed fakes.
I’ll look around and see if I can’t find the site.
That is indeed disturbing. Cause, you know, really skinny women just aren’t skinny enough for some people; if you can’t see skeleton, what’s the point? (That was heavily sarcastic, by the way.)
