Personally, I think this video is is best work.
And I think that it’s DRE that is funny as hell. He just looks at Em like…“WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?”
The album is the best thing he has done musically. Very little shock-value, very little filler.
And he uses a freaking Harpsicord in one of the songs. Extremely inventive.
TwistofFate: Harpsichord ain’t new. Not in hip-hop. Not even in Eminem. He’s used one before - The Real Slim Shady perhaps?
I really hate this song. I liked it the first time i heard it - it’s quite catchy and all, but now it just annoys the fuck out of me. Really, really disposable pop. Worse than Britney.
The rest of the album, I’m hoping willl be better. I’m not a fan, but i have a casual interest in what he does; he’s a talented MC, his only problem being that he has nothing to say. Having seen the lyrics for ‘White America’ and having heard that he tones down the dumb shock-violence shit, i’m hoping that i’ll like it.
The video is good though. I love the self-deprecating humour; it’s much funnier than his ‘dissing celebrities’ bullshit. (Is anyone else getting really bored with this? Eminem keeps claiming to have such great skills in this area, but I keep thinking, ‘Oh yeah, good one Em, Moby will be really pissed when he hears that. You’re such a bad boy’.) Dre keeps giving Eminem the best looks, kinda ‘Why the fuck did I have to get stuck with a sidekick like this?’.
Moby wasn’t pissed at all. Actually, from the interview he did on the Daily Show, he seemed kind of bemused by the whole dis. Like when Eminem says “Nobody listens to techno”; Moby responded by saying he hasn’t made a techno record in about 10 years. And the Chris Kirkpatrick dis? I bet the majority of folks were like “Who???”
Actually, I kinda like Eminem. Yeah, he tries too hard to shock/offend, and that gets anoying, not really because it’s offensive, but because he’s just trying so hard. But I do think he’s clever- he seems to have a quick mind, and I enjoy some of his stuff. Yeah, I bought the new album. I think it’s his best work, actually. He sings on one track. He sounds kinda boy-bandy when he sings, but what the hell? It’s a really touching song to his daughter, and you can tell he loves his kid. I’m a sucker for that sort of thing.
You know, I used to think that Eminem was a worthless waste of human flesh, but I was flipping around and saw that video. I laughed my ass off. Maybe Elton John is on to something here and the boy really does have talent.

He’s almost managed to convince me that a ‘platinum selling’ white guy in America in 2002 has it hard.
Hell, I’m pretty much the last person who should like Eminem, due to my orientation and musical taste (I’m facing north, and I listen mostly to REM/Nirvana/Idlewild). And I love his stuff.
Granted, the subjects sometimes piss me off, but Eminem’s way with words makes my jaw drop. I think that what he does with sound is absolutely amazing, and I would kill for half that ability. I listen mostly for that (although some of the songs are catchy).

What i expected Eminem to do, after being threatened by Al Qaeda like that was to go on the news and call them nasty names that would have to be bleeped out! For him to do the opposite and increase his security is surprising.
