Was it my imagination, or was he lip-synching as well? I swear the mic came down to his waist a few times as the vocals continued.
Was it Emnem’s way of taking a shot at the whole “controversy”, or has SNL learned nothing from last week? Seems to me if you want to continue to let the musical talent lip-synch, you don’t do it the very next week, acid reflux be damned.
That was a back up track. There was a significant difference when the mic was at his mouth.
Either way, that song kicks major ass. I couldn’t say so in the last thread about it because I hadn’t heard it yet, but damn. That’s a good song. I wish I had MTV so I could see the video; apparently it’s really great.

Even if he was lip synching, I don’t think the situations are all that analogous since Eminem’s unquestionably talented and would obviously be using a backup track as … well, a backup track.
Ashlee Simpson, on the other hand, is nothing more than a dispensable result of nepotism and marketing. Anyone that bought her explanation for last week’s performance is either legally retarded, thirteen, or both.
Was the song “Mosh”? If so, the video isn’t all that great…it’s kind of goofy. Just my opinion, of course, and truthfully there aren’t many music videos I do like, so your mileage may vary…
Good song for the most part, though. I’m not really a fan of Em, but as far as rappers go, this guy is in a class by himself.

And I was thinking that he was lip-syncing right away. In a way I suspect that he might have done that just to tick off the SNL producers. But maybe he does that as a normal part of his show anyway…but he seemed to make it a point to have the mic down by his waist as the vocals continued…had to be deliberate, I would think.

And he does (generally, it’s not like I follow him around or anything) use a back up track quite often. He has to breathe sometime, y’know? Occasionally he’ll use other rappers rather than a pre-recorded track though. But, like I said, you could hear a big difference when he put the mic to his mouth again. I said at the beginning of the show that I’d be really disappointed if he chose not to poke fun at Ashlee. But I guess the SNL writers more than made up for it and I almost think he was “saying something” by not mentioning last week’s fuck up. I’m sure it’ll be on his next record though.

Nightwatch Trailer, Freejooky…I’m with you guys. I’m quite the Eminem fan, but you gotta call 'em as ya sees 'em and unfortunately it’s just not that good, IMHO.
Fourthed. I even said as much in the thread about the song from a couple days ago.
There’s just not enough venom in it and the animation is just … weird.
The production is really weak, too. It’s basically the same thing that people like El-P or Sage Francis do, but they seem to actually be intelligent and much more well-educated on the issues.

As for the OP, it looked like he was live with a background track of his own voice. Can’t do live what it takes days to do in a studio, ya know. A good performance overall, I thought. And the Weekend Update rips of AS were brutally funny!

I watched him SING just lose it -the audio did improve when he spoke and directed his voice to the microphone.
I saw that he didnt do the “pee wee herman scream” that he had in the chorus, but I will give him the benefit of the doubt on that, as it is a step above singing, and was indeed, already recorded before he recorded just lose it.
Also, the samples from his own song were also not live, but again, they are a part of the song, and why reinvent the wheel.
Em did indeed go “live” . It seems to me he flubbed a lyric, and then hit his head in a “How stupid of me” type of gesture. Any thoughts on this? It was near the end of Just Lose it.
