Empire: Total War tech problem

Hi all,

I recently got Empire: Total War, after hearing quite a bit about it. I have to agree with everyone - it is a pretty, pretty game. I’ve got a bit of a problem though. None of my keyboard controls seem to work with it, which means I can’t even get through the tutorials. As far as I can tell, the keyboard is the main way to control the camera, so I haven’t been able to get very far in the game itself either.

I have checked the keyboard for functionality, and it works just fine normally (e.g., Word, etc.) and it also works fine for other games (specifically Civilization 3). For some reason, Empire: Total War itself will not recognize my keyboard commands. Has this happened to anybody else? Is there a simple fix that I’ve just overlooked?

Wireless keyboards seem to have a problem with this game; if that’s your case …

If your keyboard is USB, try plugging it into a different USB port or plugging it into the PS2 port with an adapter. If you have a lot of USB things plugged in you might trying uplugging them to see if that helps.

Also, I’m seeing lots of reports of people solving problems with the game by reinstalling it.
