employment!

Yay,I just got a job! It’s at the local Waldenbooks(I love books).A free round of virtual drinks for all(over 21).My favorite: Kahlua and soda!

Congatulations! Books rock! You’ll spend half your salary where you work!

Most common question I ask: “What?”
Most common question I get: “Are you really hearing impaired?”

Congrats. I’ll take an Old Style. In a bottle. No Glass.

Wait until they start hitting you with the Preferred Reader signup quota, and harp on you if you don’t get 10 per day. Also, Xmas season at Waldenbooks sucks the root. The store is going to look like it got hit by Hurricane Floyd. I worked there through 3 Xmases.

Otherwise, congratulations.

I was Asst. Manager at a Waldenbooks for a year. I liked the fact that this particular store was a stand-alone, not in a mall. Not as much riff-raff coming through.

I really enjoyed the check-out program in which an employee can take a book home for a couple of weeks (free; like a library).

I did spend a lot on books, but the discount is pretty high for employees.

BTW, my PR% was consistently the highest in the store.

Gee, pldennison- you’re like a little ray of sunshine…

Congrats on your job! Hope all goes well!!

Ah, zette, someday I shall share my Waldenbooks experiences for all to enjoy.

Still, I’m glad she got a job! Being employed always beats being unemployed.

A free bible to Satan if he comes in

pldennison,
I’m sure you had a lot of “interesting” experiences there (since it’s retail- been there!). I was just pointing out that perhaps it wasn’t very nice to start badmouthing a place when someone just got hired there and is obviously very excited, that’s all.

Many blessings O/C!

glad to hear about your job. must be nice! I have recently moved and am trying to pay my new mortgage. Unfortunately, I am considered “overqualifed” for many jobs, yet am not-updated enough for the rest. I was a successful educator for 12 years, Dean’s List and Cum Laude grad. from college way back when, but I can’t even get a job as a checker in Wal-Mart because I am “over-qualified.” I have kids to support too! ( Guess I should be going to the PIT to vent, hee hee) Anyway, congrats on the job, hope I can post the same soon :)*

One must learn by doing things; for though you think you know it you have no certainty until you try.

Orangecakes, congrats!!! Just don’t try to sell anyone any fiction - we all know that ‘no one’ reads it anymore…
