Ending a song in Pro Tools?

I’ve looked all over the web. I have Pro tools LE and the Digi 001.

I’m making a CD for my siblings and having trouble setting the end of the songs. They play for 4 minutes even if the song ends at three. As I bounce each song to disk how do I set the length of the song?

I have waves plug ins if there’s a tool in there I don’t know about.

Are you using a template to create the tracks or are you starting fresh every time? If you are using a template that is probably where the 4 minutes comes from. You should be able to create a new template with no length, export the tracks from each song, import them into the template and save. I haven’t ever had to do this but think it will work. The other option is to play with the Trimmer Tool.

I can’t find any info on actually shortening the tracks in my handy Pro Tools manual. The time on the bounce is going to be determined (I believe) by the longest track on the song (hence the question about templates).

The other option is to put the tracks in a mastering program which should allow you to edit the length…

I’ll look further and play a bit to see if I can figure it out.

Thanks, Track length is the problem. I’m new to PT and I’m making a CD for siblings by singing to tracks. The longest track is 4 minutes.

I’m using L2 in waves for mastering but I didn’t see a way to edit length. I’ll keep checking. If I just go active on the tracks I’m bouncing the trim tool may work.
