Endometriosis and Treatment

Thanks for this post.

My sister has pretty severe endometriosis as well, and was told by her doctor to get pregnant. So she did. She has an eight month old right now and just got her PPAF and is again in horrible pain. She went to the doctor last week and guess what he said? Have another or get a hysterectomy. WTF?

I’ll pass along this link to this thread so she can see her options!

ETA: I see this thread is really old, wow! Still, it helps!

What the fuck is with all the GYNs who do not realize that norethindrone is the go to med for endo?

And believe me, if men got endometriosis, hysterectomies would be worlds easier to get. There would be walk in clinics that specialized in yanking out those annoying internal organs.

Actually, if men had to deal with half the issues that go on with female reproduction, things would be worlds different.

I had laparascopy gallbladder surgery, which I would imagine is more of an insult to the body than the endometriosis surgery - and aside from being pretty wiped out for the rest of the week, and of course sore where the gallbladder used to be, was pretty easy. My arms/shoulders hurt like crazy for about 24 hours starting from the evening after the surgery - from the gas they used to blow up the abdomen, I believe.

For those of you with endo, who have had children, did you find that childbearing helped at all?

(Male) doctors have been telling each other, and their female patients, that the pain is all in a woman’s head, or mostly in her head. And if males had to deal with female reproduction issues, I’m sure that we’d have researched and possibly developed artificial wombs.

It’s not just the men. There are some female gyns who well and truly believe that there is no worse fate than being unable to have children. I just hate it. ''What if you regret it when you decide you want kids later?"

Then I’ll regret it. The world will not fall apart if for some reason I regret not being able to have children. I am capable of making decisions and abiding by their consequences.

SheHulkSMASH!

My grandfather claims that his ex wife’s friend was scheduled for a hysterectomy due to endometriosis and on the day before the surgery discovered that she was pregnant. She gave birth to a boy and never had another cramp for the rest of her life. I don’t know if I believe that, but I guess it’s possible.

Any theories as to why it works?

No idea.
