England, Greece, McClaren and Beckham

So England beat Greece 4-0 without Golden Balls. :stuck_out_tongue:

Let’s not get carried away here, Greece were pants and it was a friendly match.
However, the England team played as a Team they knew their positions but also had licence to roam and more important they played without fear unlike when under the Swede.

McClarens decision to drop Beckham was a brave one, Golden Balls is not the player he was, he’s lost a lot of pace and while his free kicks were still good his passing left something to be desired.

Owen Hargreaves was outstanding, hell even Ferdinand played well. If only England could have managed a score like that in the World Cup that would have given the team confidence…but no the Swede was clueless.

Let’s hope that under Mc Claren things will only get better :dubious:

Now then, The English Premier league kicks off today

Next April/May up and down the country fans will know the agony of relegation and the ecstacy of promotion…I’ve suffered the first and bathed in happiness at the second.

I’m a Manchester City fan and realistically hope for a mid table finish but ya never know. Under Stuart Pearce we’ve done OK.

So to all football fans out there I wish you every success except when playing my team in which case I hope you get thrashed

We shall see, if England floruishes without Beckham, whether coincidentally or as a direct result, then McLaren will have done the right thing. With 11 guys on the pitch, though, I don’t think it’s fair the amount of stick that Beckham has taken, especially when he was directly responsible for a couple of their WC wins, and him being injured in the last one may have cost them a win as well.

That being said, if Sven had picked a senisble strike force, the Beckham thing might not have been an issue at all.

I too love City, and wish they could have done whatever necessary to keep Chris Musampa and Robbie Fowler, but other than that, I like this years team, though the presence of a new goalkeeper concerns me…
