England (rugby)

Agreed. Hats off to Portugal for at least fronting on the day. GO THE BLACKS!!

ermmmm…
What the heck is going on here tonight?
edited to add: nevermind…Ireland 12, Georgia 10 but still…

Yeah, but it’s all about those bonus points… the Bog Trotters really needed to run in the extra tries, especially as the Argies racked up 33pts against Georgia.

Going to be pretty tight in that group I reckon.

Good Christ, what a fucking cockup tonight was.

Just heard the following stats about Georgia: there are only 8 rugby pitches in the entire country, and only 300 registered players.

Oh lordie. France v Ireland. Friday. Not sure if I can bear to watch.

Yes and the Georgians get paid just £14 per week.

In that case, wonder if I could get some of them to come round and build a deck in my back garden.

TAB sports had the All Blacks a 115 point favorite, so Portugal covered. This is not sarcasm. As an occasional sports bettor, that was quite a line to see.

Yeah, some people were talking up a 150 point victory, which didn’t seem outrageous given that NZ once stuck 145 points on Japan. Full credit to the Portugese, who were obviously bursting with pride just to be there - and to the AB’s, who treated them with courtesy and respect - but I don’t think that putting the minnows in regular pool play is doing anyone any favours, though: there just isn’t the depth of talent worldwide to justify it. It’s not the soccer World Cup, where realistically any one of a dozen teams could win it: with England a broken reed, there are really only four teams in this competition. What the minnows really need is a couple of pools of their own, with the winners being guaranteed berths in the quarter finals.

Hey, cheer up, Pommies, maybe England did better against South Africa in the 20/20 crick…

What?

…never mind.

Bokke!!!

:stuck_out_tongue:

Without trying you can be really nasty, yannow that?

Now jjim you need to say sorry to England!

Poor Aussies

Edited to say “Poor Aussies”

Wilkinson is so valuable. Put that guy in range and he’ll score you points. Fair play the English grinded it out.

Thought Wilko was one of the weaker players out there, actually; missed three penalties I think, and wasn’t exactly faultless in midfield or kicking from hand. He’s not the player he was, but this is hardly surprising given the four years he’s endured.

Now, I wonder why our Kiwi friend seems so pleased with an England win?

My guess would be that the All Blacks would have an easier match against England than they would have with the Aussies (assuming they get past France). This is actually pretty good news if you support NZ. Wow! GO THE BLACKS!

Hey, well done, England.

Yeah, i don’t quite understand all the fawning over Wilkinson. He’s OK at his position, and he can certainly kick goals, but it was the forwards that won that match for England. They were monstrously good; the Aussie scrum had no answer.

The Wallabies’ mistakes didn’t help their cause, either.

Well done to England, from a rather depressed Aussie.

Now i have to cheer for the All Blacks.

Its really not your day today is it?
I am sooooooo glad I’ll be in England for England vs France next week

Honestly, is there a bigger group of bottlers, chokers and shithouses in world sport than the ABs? Lord have mercy.

Speaking of frauds, Amir Khan is just about to enter the ring. See if he can stay off the canvas this time round.
