Both teams had heart, but the English were playing damn near perfect Rugby. They were the better team, right from kickoff. No question. Even the Aussie commentators are saying so.

Brilliant game.
Well deserved win by the Poms.

I almost died thinking it would go into second extra time. What a great game! I don’t think either side (even though we’d doubtless enjoy the ribbing) wanted a complete thrashing. Much better to know you’ve won and had to work to get it, or that you lost but there was no shame in it, because it was a true competition.

Yep . Actually boring Ruby Union. The only times I got to leap up and yell “go! go! go!” at the TV were Lote Tuquiri’s two great runs, sadly only one of which ended in a try. And Matt Rogers forgot what game he was playing at one stage I think.

Well done to England though (I was thinking of pitting Jonny Wilkinson, but thought that would probably not be very sportsman-like) and well done the Wallabies.
