Enough with the Francophobia!

Neither is China. Or Zimbabwe. Or North Korea. When are we invading them?

Who is this crowd you refer to?

Let’s get back to the beer!

Coldfire: Pleeeease send me a case of Jupiler? I’ll send you a case of and Canadian beer you want! (Come on Americans, I DARE you snigger at my offer… you unlucky people down there… with your “canoe sex beer”) Oh, and can you throw in a bottle of Pisang?

Also, I recommend Duvel, Orval, Ciney, Chimay… mmm Belgian beer GOOD.

OK… you may now return to the OP. On that note:

Brutus, please stop posting to this thread until after your World Affairs IQ rises above room temperature.

Unfortunately, grasshopper, the media actively searches out this insanity and broadcasts it indiscriminately. People with sane opinions and moderate viewpoints don’t make for good TV.

I have heard marvelous things about Grolsch, but here in benighted New York City, I can only get the export. It’s decent and all, but hardly anything to soil my jeans about.

All this time and nobody has commented on the thread title? Francophobia would be fear of the French, not hatred. If anything, many posts are suggesting that there is nothing to fear from them.

Might I suggest “misofrancia” instead? Or does that sound too much like the name of a red wine? Or a skin disease?

Peyote, Heineken is NOT superior to Grolsch. It just isn’t. Period.

Other decent Dutch pilsners that might be available abroad: Dommelsch, Brand, Gulpener. Probably all hard to get by, but it might be possible. The really obscure ones that I doubt are exported at all: De Kroon and Alfa.

No argument about Chimay, and the list of Belgian beers CuriousCanuck offered. We have to bow deep to the Belgians when it comes to beer: they’re the world champions, followed by the Germans and the Irish. The Dutch might make the top ten, but we can only dream of the rich history and culture Belgium has when it comes to beer.

To give you an idea of how serious the Belgians take their beer: The 24 hours of Belgian Beer. I’ve been there a couple of times, and it’s pure magic.

Irish beer? That’d be Harp or Smithwicks, wouldn’t it?

Smithwicks is more of an ale

Where is the people in here to tell jokes about French shaving or cleaning habits?

Clint? Clint in Wichita? are you there?

I’m down with the OP.
