Sure, the reasons it started. But, this board has evolved. And who’s to say that we don’t read and post to those original fora? I do. And guess what? When I give a factual answer*, it’s usually right and well supported. Yes, I’ve been wrong (and stand corrected) and I’ve posted quips, too.
My point is: I DO fight ignorance when I can, I learn things when I can, and I also like to have fun. I would wager that many others in those hated threads do likewise.
Also, and this one is a biggie, y’all, I’ve broken no rules by doing so. Not even the vague and ever changing “Don’t Be A Jerk” rule. Neither has anyone else posting in or viewing those threads.
Hey, you guys made the rules. We’re just playing by them. If you don’t like it, change the rules. I’ll be happy either way.
mostly about remodeling or photography, but I’ve been known to be involved in lay science threads and Biblical word origin/meaning questions. fyi
What part of MUNDANE and POINTLESS didn’t you catch the first time? I mean, OK, some of it isn’t stuff we MUST share, but it’s MUNDANE and POINTLESS. Pre-labeled for your viewing pleasure (or non-ciewing pleasure)! Besides, having SIMS and IMHO around keep that sort of thing from creeping into GD … can you imagine how horrid GD would be if it had more flirting (there’s already some I’ve seen when I do venture there)?
It’s entertaining (as much to those participants as your GD threads are to you), it’s amusing (see previous), it keeps your meat and potatoes free of whipped cream and cotton candy.
GD is too intimidating most of the time. I read nearly everything in there but rarely post (usually I only post when I’m wanting someone to clarify on a point nobody else has touched yet) How is someone with a only slightly larger then average brain supposed to post when someone with a mega watt brain has already aired the argument I would have made…only with eloquence and 50pages of research unlike my rambling disjointed stream of thought posts.
