"Enter" is to click as "_" is to right click.

my mouse batteries have died AGAIN. i’m doing pretty well without it; but there’s ONE thing i haven’t figured out yet. okay, in either a folder or on a message board such as this one, you press “TAB” to kind of “highlight” a shortcut. to open it, you press “enter”; but what do you do if you want to “right-click” it? i know on most menus like that, there are combinations you can use such as ALT+D to delete; but that’s about the only one i remember. it’d be a whole lot easier if i could just see the menu.

Shift+F10

Also, if you have a recent keyboard, the key next to the windows key should bring up the application/right-click menu.

On my (Microsoft Office) keyboard the right-click key is to the right of the spacebar, between the Alt and Ctrl keys. The icon looks like a drop-down menu with a pointer arrow on it.

You could use MouseKeys from Start/Settings/Control Panel/Accessibility to substitute as a mouse. I find it more convenient that using keyboard shortcuts when my mouse fails.
