I am speaking as a Voyager fan. As someone who thought the Year of Hell was one of the most brilliant foreshadowing concepts ever on television, who thought the way the downfall of the Maquis was handled well (Out of character: The Maquis were a stupid idea to begin with, we got bored, and moved in a different direction with DS9) but storyline-wise, wow. I loved Janeway/Seven. I loved the crises of faith and depression, the struggle to abide by a meaningless code of conduct, the helplessness of such a tiny ship. I mean sure, anything having to do with the Borg and the last season made me want to drive nails through my eyes to stop the hurt, but I loved and accepted Voyager, despite it being mostly bad.
Please understand my deep abiding love for even the meagerest of Trek offerings. I roleplay Trek every week online. I attend a con every year.
And still… Star Trek X was unwatchable. Enterprise is simply unbearable. I could not even struggle through the episodes anymore, hoping it would get better. I liked the Israel/Palestinian episode by Chris Black (who wrote brilliantly for Xena, also). I liked T’Pol getting AIDS–despite the cheesiness, it touched a chord. I like T’Pol, and Hoshi, and I would marry Tripp. I even like the theme song and the montage. But my god is the show awful.
Kill it. Kill it now.
Don’t let anyone make a movie or show in the Star Trek franchise for 10 years.
I hope it survives, but I wouldn’t be surprised if it doesn’t. The show isn’t as bad as Voyager sometimes was, but it’s unobjectionable to the point of invisibility. While this season is better than the first two, it just isn’t anything I’d go out of my way to watch if it weren’t the continuation of something I’d already enjoyed and had invested a lot of time in.
It’d be unfortunate to leave all the unanswered questions about the Suliban and the Xindi unresolved. More importantly, it’s an ignominious end for the franchise. But, y’know, people said that about the third season of the original show, and look what came after that.
They better wrap it up this year, because its going to get flushed. I have kind of given up on this one after it became Gilligan’s Island in Space this year. I will watch it off and on, but that is it. If they can it, no big loss.
Time to let Star Trek rest, as they are clearly out of ideas.

This, coupled with your sig, made me laugh out loud. Hope the guy the next office over doesn’t think I’m a complete moron!
