Yes. And it was last year, too. Bakula was on Craig Kilborn’s talk show early last Summer talking about it. The Xindi arc was decided on to boost viewing but it was still touch and go til the last possible minute. It’s currently known as a bubble show.
The Enterprise Project page had a physical server move (normally it is at www.enterpriseproject.org) but for now it has a mirror at:
It has links for more info.
Check out the Feb. 24-Mar. 1 special issue of The Hollywood Reporter and see the open letter to Moonves and Dawn Ostroff on the inside of the back cover. The ad cost a frikkin’ fortune, but there were gobs of contributions made by people inside and outside the U.S., thank goodness.
Garry Hart likes Trek and his office says it’s best to bug UPN, so bug Ostroff:
*Viacom and CBS run Paramount and UPN, so ultimately those guys at the top make the cancellation and renewal decisions on the TV shows.
Paper letters are the most powerful form, however. Try to get out at least one to each person on a regular basis. Keep messages short, polite and clear: We want Enterprise for a fourth season and more.
The UPN phone line tends to get clogged with messages, so you might wait till a weekday. You can leave a message in the general mailbox if the Audix is not working.
If you want to give the Enterprise folks a morale booster, call Paramount at 323 956 5000 and use the voice recognition system; say “Star Trek Enterprise” and you’ll get the Production offices for the show.
Yeah, like Jake 2.0. Oh, wait… that’s right, it was already cancelled despite being an interesting sci-fi show that “hasn’t been done to death”.
Look, **we ** ***like ** * Enterprise and just because ***you ** * do not, that doesn’t mean you have to shit on it and its fans in a thread dedicated to trying to save it. If you want. start your own thread trashing Enterprise and I’m sure NCB, viva, I, and the other fans that enjoy the series will try to give it a wide berth. Try showing us the same respect, okay?
Thanks for the thread, NCB. And (I assume) thank you for giving him the idea, viva. I would like Enterprise to make it to lucky number seven just like all the rest.
Unfortunately, the server took off right after the open letter ad appeared, making it nearly impossible for people to find the page. sigh
Anyhow…saving ENT isn’t just about, well, saving ENT. It’s also about saving Trek. Those who say “give it a rest and come back later” don’t realize that there would most likely never be any more Trek if this one doesn’t make it to at least a fourth season.
I’m with Viva. Even a sub par Season IV will be better for the franchise than no Season IV at all.
And, outside of the first half of Season II, ENT has been pretty consistantly scoring Bs. Sure, it definitely has some weak points, but so did every incarnation of Trek yet to be on TV.
However, if ENT fails now, Trek on TV or in movies is doomed. Trek fans (Trekkers, Trekkies alike) don’t want to see this. So, we are doing what we can do to save it and make it better.
This thread is a fan thread only. Put any negative comments in your own, please.
A great site, very well laid out, with a support link so you can contact the people who sponsor or buy ad space on the show. Email as many as you can, when you can do it. There is a $ factor here, naturally. They need to know that people are watching the show and maybe even buying their products or services. I’ve written to nearly all of them and have gotten some great stuff: many nice emails and letters, tons of coupons, recipe books, picture postcard, phone card, free samples, a gift card for $25.00, and more.
We have a solid month of reruns coming up and then the last few eps of this season are scheduled.
Even a commercial watched and commented on to the sponsers during reruns can add up in the final talley of whether this show survives.
Viva and I, NoClueBoy, will be posting what updates we find and helpful hints of how to badger, I mean communicate with, those people who can actually make a difference in what happens with ENT.
See ya 'round the galaxy, fan boys.
Remember the rules for this thread. It is a fan thread. By and for fans on Star Trek: Enterprise. Do not reply if all you are going to do is post negative comments.
On the other hand, questions are welcome. But, remember this is just about saving the show. We have plenty of threads discussing the eps and the series’/franchise’s merits.
Thank you for reading this. Your friend, The Ultimate Trekker.
This is serious, folks. Visit www.enterpriseproject.org and click on the addresses link on the left. Concentrate on Mr. Leslie Moonves and Ms. Dawn Ostroff. Keep your letters polite and focus on saving ENT. Don’t tell them what idiots they are (that wouldn’t help our case, now, would it?). Tell them what a Trek fan you are, that you support the show, that you spend hours discussing it online, that you buy official merchandise, etc. Tell them that you look forward to more seasons.
And please don’t tell them how to “Fix” the show. As evay at Triphammered says, “A show can’t be fixed if it’s not airing.”
Check out www.triphammered.com and click on the support link on the left. A few emails to the sponsors can really help.
Some of the biggest and most frequent ones: VISA, IBM, KFC, Sprint, Verizon, Nissan, Citibank, Ford, Chevy, Mitsubishi.
Thanks!!
–viva, unrepentant fangirl and total geek, convention-bound on March 28 with other ENT Project members…Gonna see the Enterprise boys! Yeah, baby!
Thanks for the heads up, NCB! I didn’t realize what thin ice we were boldly going where no one had gone before on. I will follow up on the recommended servers and contacts.
For what it’s worth, I think Enterprise, while not up to DS9 standards, blows away Voyager (not that that is saying much) by a mile, and is on a par with TNG and TOS. And hey, even TNG didn’t hit its stride until season three or four. If ENT is getting less than an equal amount of slack to develop, I’d blame it on the shorter attention span of the modern TV world, rather than the show being an inferior product…Timmy
TNG was actually horrible in Seasons One and Two and only only passable in Season Seven. That everyone thinks so fondly of its entire run is nostalgic revisionism.
