Enterprise Extinction Spoilers! -- fellate with too much alacrity here!

I thought I was the only one that liked Teenagers From Outer Space.

[Crow T Robot, after watching prissy bitch in swiming pool zapped into dry bones]

Huh. I guess you can be too rich and too thin.

Oh, I recorded the wrong channel. I now have four hours of quality tape of HSN. I may try again on the Sunday repeat.

Unless… can you give me a reason to skip it? Or does it fit into the arc in such a way as to make it neccessary to view?

Not especially.

NCB – no new leads on the Xindi. Although I didn’t mind that. I think it would be less realistic if every episode turned up a magical new clue. (And what sort of clue should we expect from the wild west episode coming up? “Ah spotted one o’ them Xindi boys over at the OK Corral!”)

Although the reason they headed to the planet in the first place was due to tracking the Xindi ship’s path (the one whose database they had recovered from last week’s bandits). So it’s following the leads that gets them into this situation, which is fine. Just no new clues from this one.

Well, if I can record the right channel, I’ll watch it. I want to see how many different TNG plotlines it steals from.

Viva, the Doc says I’m okay, so no worries!

NCB, there’s a doctor that says there’s nothing wrong with you? And you paid the quack?!!

Yeah, but he didn’t echo.

What!?

Well… some of the pros and cons:

Con: Trip talking about his stinky feet

Pro: T’Pol in her T’Pajamas

Con: Caveman Archer and Malcolm fighting over food

Pro: T’Pol / Hoshi Smackdown

Con: Misleading trailer making us think whole crew had been de-evolved or something.

Pro: Flamethrower-fu

Pro: Travis gets a speaking line or two (or Con, depending on your POV)

So… there really was Panda?
btw, it took only 25 posts for this thread to degenrate. It usualy takes 2 pages of real epsode discussion before that happens. (I’m leaving off the early speculation threads we sometimes do.) Is that an indication of how lackluster this ep was? Even the hated thinly disguised gay rights/AIDS ep* got more posts about the actual ep.

So… this ep was basically a yawner, I take it?
*not hated for any gay issues, but for the heavy handed shoving a moral down our throats, in case any one’s wondering…

tarragon and I must be in the minority here…I liked the un-Trek-like music, and even the lack of music, in this one; found the whole thing weird and freaky (but I like that sort of thing anyhow).
Nitpick: T’Pol touched food with her hands! (yeah, yeah, I know that’s the way her DNA got on it.)

No Odor Eaters in the 22nd century? They must really be devolving–even when they’re not mutating.

Chirpy Reed creeped me out. I notice he lost his accent after he transformed. No British aliens, I take it?
Liked the X-Ray FX on Archer’s innards.

Aes: (responding to other Trek thread) Yeah, NCIS blew all right.
I had been wondering if you liked the brunette gal on Jake. She’s cool.

Well, speaking of discussion on the episode…

What did everybody think about Archer’s little speech at the end, about… (in a spoiler box since NCB hasn’t seen yet):
saving the virus sample, so that he isn’t responsible for destroying the last remaining vestige of a species

Unless you’re planning to use it on somebody again, isn’t that species long dead?
I thought it was a cute little speech. Hey, it was better than the one about the gazelle!

“We must save this pwecious widdle viwus. It can be one of your new pets, Phwox! I can be mean and scawy, but I don’t want to be too bad!”
(Just kidding. Sarcasm meter was on.)
NCB: Good news! All clear inside and out, eh?

Yeah, I noticed that too. Although I seem to recall there have been a few other episodes where she touched food with her hands. But then, they are slowly but surely de-Vulcanizing her anyways. Some day, she’s going to end up doing the horizontal mambo with Trip the Stinky Human, mark my words!

NoClueBoy - I probably wouldn’t categorize it as a total yawner, but it had ups and downs.

The virus idea was interesting – I agree with viva, the x-ray vision shot was pretty cool. The confrontation with the aliens trying to contain the “outbreak” was good, including the smug “told you so” at the end. Even the reality of the city that Unga-Bunga-Archer was trying to get to, compared to the image in his dream, and the realization that something didn’t add up.

My primary complaint would be about the characterization of the alien species that they were turned into. As I mentioned earlier, they were awfully primitive for a species technologically advanced enough to create such a virus.

Then there’s the standard deus ex machina of Vulcan physiology being magically immune or resistant to everything and thus the solution to the problem. But I can live with that.

Testing altered (mutated!) sig:

Deleted extraneous comma. Oh no! Maybe I should have saved it! It’s the last of its kind!!!

Okay, so Monstre, tarr and I liked it.
NCB?
Aes? Never mind–you don’t got tape yet. Tape come soon.
Unga bunga!

Least-favorite line:

Near the beginning, Archer is showing a picture of another Xindi subspecies to T’Pol, and says, “According to Phlox, they probably evolved from some kind of arboreal primate.

Evolved from an arboreal primate! Wow! What a thoroughly original idea! Why, we don’t know of any other species that evolved from an arboreal primate!

From the article:

"In July, video game manufacturer Activision filed suit against media giant Viacom, claiming that the company let its Trek franchise ‘stagnate and decay.’ "

You can sue somebody because their TV shows suck?

I’m still not sure what a phaser-cutting phaser would be good for. I just can’t seem to locate the Canadian version of “Devil in the Dark” anywhere. Was it only ever shown at a Convention, or something?

Tom: Really Old Teenagers from Space…

I couldn’t believe it when the preview for next week’s ep actually used the term “sex slave”. Should be sweet as it looks like we get T’Pol and Hoshi lez panda!

Well, he didn’t say arboreal dwelling primate… So I choose to believe he meant they evolved from some sort of half-tree/half-monkey.
