I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I know it’s a little early, but I’ve already seen this and I wanted to start a thread so I could comment on it. Please forgive me! Okay? Okay.
It was pretty good. Mild(ish) spoiler comments: [spoiler]Some good Hoshi time. Though perhaps not as much as some of you would like. Things are moving along nicely. Too bad about that MACO guy. Bummer. More time with the scary spheres. And the aquatics finally come to the plate!
Yep. I just saw it again too with my sister (who hadn’t seen it yet). She’s somewhat visually impaired so I read aloud the subtitles (Xindi) to her.
It was interesting to see it again. I also wanted to see what the previews were for next week (I hadn’t seen them yet) but what I saw was pretty short and didn’t give much information.
Ah well, we’ll just have to wait until next week! And that will be it, until next season. And what a nice feeling it was—to watch this episode, knowing that there was to be a next season!
Hoshi’s cool. You know that whatever is wrong with her, in the end, Phlox will take care of it.
It’s sad to see her suffer, but she carries herself well and shows herself to be brave and resourceful. I was expecting a little more “Hoshi Time” (I was just thinking of all you fanboys) and I will tell you that she’s not the main focal point of the story. But she is in it enough, I guess.
Hey, cool. They get UPN here and I just watched the teaser.
I might actually be able to discuss the shows now instead of just nodding and acting like I know what you guys are talking about. I’ll miss my weekly tapes though. I feel so special when I get mail from viva.
I liked tonight’s episode despite it being nothing more than a buildup to next week’s episode without any appreciable character devolpment. It doesn’t make sense without context (which I have little of due to a hazy memory of the shows I watched the past two days) but was still good overall.
The only nitpicks I noticed were the mention of T’Pol formalizing her tenure with Starfleet, thus making her the first Vulcan officer, not Spock, and the way in which the MACO (Hayes?) died. There’s been no precedent at all for someone dying in that manner and it came off as nothing more than a cheap ploy to get people talking.
Aes, should I not bother to tape ENT any more for you? I can still tape some other stuff until summer reruns set in.
the Lady: You go, girl. I don’t keeeer either. I like me some ENT!
yosemite: I hope so, but I’ll believe it 100% when UPN makes their announcement on May 20. I just hope they don’t move it to Fridays. That’s how TOS was killed.
The episode:
Good angry defiant spittin’ Hoshi!!! It was smart of her to figure out a way to stall. But the poor gal doesn’t even get any rest when she’s injured.
Good scenes with T’Pol and Trip.
Nice full circle job on Reed and Hayes.
Did the Xindi allies know enough not to blow up the ship with Hoshi on it? Did anyone tell them, or was she just lucky?
Lots of action and tension and good pacing. Kudos to McNeill for the direction.
If you don’t mind and it wouldn’t be too much trouble, would you tape ENT for me still? I often forget to watch TV anyway and would like knowing I have a backup, just in case.
I haven’t forgotten I owe you a metric ton of empty tapes either. Expect a shipment in a month or two.
Many times throughout Trek’s history, I have lamented the fact that the various “alien” species not only look like human beings wearing funny costumes, they all react as though they were human beings wearing funny costumes.
This is another one of those times.
I mean, wouldn’t it have been great if, after Hoshi had spit in his face, the Reptillian commander had said, “We thank you for the gift of your body’s water”?
