If so, then why doesn’t every eukaryotic species on Earth have 'em, huh?

I, uh… I, well… I was tired. Honest… I ran out of gas. I, I had a flat tire. I didn’t have enough money for cab fare. My tux didn’t come back from the cleaners. An old friend came in from out of town. Someone stole my car. There was an earthquake. A terrible flood. Locusts. IT WASN’T MY FAULT, I SWEAR TO GOD!
All right, all right, I apologize. I’m really really sorry, I apologize unreservedly. I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you, or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future.
She’s been very vocal lately. I don’t know if it harms the show, but she’s right: Vulcans should not be touching food with their hands, there was no solid foundation for the Trip/T’Pol romance, and the B and B have not helped things. They left a lot of messes for Coto and the Reeves-Stevenses to clean up.
I’ve not seen them or heard them referenced in the episodes I’ve managed to see and even when they were on the ship, they were almost always ignored so I doubt we’ll be seeing them again.
Just saw the episode. Missed taping it (had family in town this last weekend and was pretty busy) but watched it on a friend’s replay TV tonight.
Regarding people’s comments about geek-in-joke-panda, I disagree that “The Needs of the Many” is pandering. Soval said it to himself as he was deciding to perform the mind meld, much in the same way as an American might mutter “When in Rome…” while convincing himself to participate in some local custom. Since “The Needs of the Many…” seems to be a vulcan saying in much the same way as “When in Rome” is, it made sense.
Having Soong mutter about cybernetics in a generation or two, now that’s pandering.
I also don’t think that a comment about those that followed the raptor creates a conflict with canon. He could simply have been refering to a centuries-old legend about a seperated group that followed “the raptor” with no further specific information. Or, if he had an 1800 year old Katra in his head, he might be privy to information that has otherwise been lost.
That’s an example. “My inner eyelids will protect me” is another.
It is darn interesting. In the hand of the Reeves-Stephens (Reeve-Stephenes?) it won’t be a problem. My only complaint with Awakewning is a lack of characterization of the antagonist. And maybe he doesn’t need any. From a conversation with my Boss, “Some people are just assholes”. ^:dubious:^
I think it comes from all that quantum leaping.
Scott Bakula has two expressions. One of them is confused, and one isn’t.
Re my earlier post: I note that it is Reeves-Stevens.
We’ve been camping in our pop-up in the Hot Springs area since Thursday. A fun B&B campsite at Bartee Meadows; feet in the hot springs; the Science museum; kids biking and playing with tennis balls; some hiking. Up til 1:30am finishing cleaning up (steaming cleaning the van, washing, etc.) I’ll post when I can watch (hopefully tonight).
Not only did the sehlat/cealot/zealot/however-it’s-spelled come from “Yesteryear”, but the Forge itself comes from that particular ST:TAA episode too. Little boy Spock was going to go on some coming-of-age ritual trial in the desert, and Sarek called the place where he was going to have to go through this trial “the Forge”.
WRT Romulans: The first Romulan war is supposed to start in three years, I believe, according to various timelines of the ST universe. Here’s our first taste of the gathering doom of that insterstellar war which will lead to the founding of the Federation.
While our first introduction to Romulans in TOS was loaded with mystery about this race and why they appeared so Vulcan, I believe the later canon changed that. The Vulcans surely know that the Romulans were runaway Vulcans that did not embrace Surak’s teachings. I doubt that as we get into the Romulan War on Enterprise, we will never see a face to face (or viewscreen to viewscreen) encounter.
NoClueBoy, carnivorousplant, et al.: Can we please cut it with the references to Quantum Leap? It’s old, it’s unproductive, and very tiresome. Thanks, pals.
