Enterprise "Carbon Creek"

SPOILERS AHEAD

So what do we think of this episode?
It wasn’t bad. Behind sheet scene of T’Pal’s 2nd fore-mother (played by T’Pal) was great. I think the very last part ruined it for me. I would have been fine thinking that the whole story was made up. Your thoughts?

So much for my satellite feed, scum bag.

Tars, brace yourself. Not only is there no frontal nudity, Hoshi isn’t in it at all.
Good gad, man, get hold of yourself! Buck up!

It is a very good episode. After it shows in the US, I do have some comments.

Huh? Wha? An advance Enterprise thread NOT by Carni? Oh wait… just gotta read the OP…

So the T’Pol in the comercials isn’t T’Pol but her mom? OK, I was afraid it would be Time-Travel-O-Rama, and I just don’t want that.

But… no frontal nudity? No Hoshi? But they do get to watch I Love Lucy? Right?
-Rue. (tuning in tonight)

N-n-n-o-o-o-o-o Ho-o-o-oshi-i-i-i???

Going faint…[sub]so dark…so cold…[/sub]

I’m not doing CPR.
No way.
Can I have his CDs?

It turned out better than I thought it would. And the silhouette was definatley the best part

SPOILERS DEAD AHEAD, CAPTAIN!, and No, I don’t know how to do that spoiler coding box.

That was T'Mir, T'Pol's second foremother--or as we humans would say, her great grandmother.

–Isn’t “Mistral” a rather odd name for a Vulcan? Don’t their names normally start with a V, S, or T?

–So…are we supposed to wonder (along with Trip and Archer) which parts of the story were true and which weren’t? I find it hard to believe that Mistral would have remained on Earth for any length of time without being caught eventually and fouling things up, contamination-wise.

–Vulcans n’ Velcro! Cute touch, but wasn’t it invented later? Or did T’Mir pull a Scotty-reveals-transparent-aluminum secrets a la ST IV?

I did a little research and found out that Velcro was invented in the early 40’s (not 1957) by a Swiss man named George de Mestral. Interesting.

I’m not reading this thread but do want to decry the fact that my local station replaced Enterprise with a Voyager rerun.

Bastages!!!

I wish I had my blood drippy font here. And 3 effects doesn’t cut it either. I need shadow.

What’s with the brown hair? Mrs. Plant says Stonn had drown hair.

Moe should be able to pull the drain out of the wal… He’s a Vulcan, for crying out loud. He uses a futuristic tool because the fitting will not come loose by hand. Maybe he didn’t want to get dirty.

Why the purse as an artifact? A transistor radio of baseball games might have been better. I didn’t see granny leaving with it. That scene reminded me of ET, by the way. The obtainng clothing from the washline was out of The City On The Edge Of Forever. Homage, I would hope.

Thanks, h. sapiens! Good job!

TOS would have had a fist fight when Mistral wanted to contact the humans. Did the other Vulcans not use force to restrain him because of a Vulcan thing or 21st century TV writing political correctness?

A very good episode, I believe.

Yeah, eww. You didn’t miss anything, ** Osiris ** … Unless you wanted to see a silhouette of Jolene Blalock changing clothes behind a sheet. I’m sure you didn’t.

I didn’t like this episode. Bored my ass off. And I didn’t like the bit at the end with the handbag. I would have preferred it if the story had all been a lie.

And I missed the rest of the crew. :frowning:

Kn(Looking forward to the advertized explosions and general ruckus of next week)ckers

Umm, the handbag at the end is the one that grandmaw stuffed the money into.

I realize you can grow old and grey arguing technical inconsistencies in Star Trek, but what about pon farr? Mistral didn’t seem the type to have gone full Kohlinar.

Loved the episode had some funny moments. “Lucy is on tonight”

So Vulcans end up on a backward world with little or no technology. They are bound to become bored and where would they turn they don’t want to interfer and there would be little of scientific interst on the planet… Yep they become boob tube lovers. I especially love the moment when Mistral decides to go to the ship to get a device to imporve reception.

Ok so show of hands… Was the hand bag T’Pol’s Great Grand mother’s or hers… (How old is she?)

Here’s what I want to know. How did Mistral know the rules to pool – specifically, regarding the 8-ball?

I liked it. It was a fun little episode. It’s at least possible we’ll see Mistral again. Enterprise is about 150 years from now, right? So Mistral might even still be alive, albeit rather old for a Vulcan at ~230. I would rather have had the second episode of the season have more to do with the overarching storyline, but that’s a quibble.

–Cliffy

Discovering rules of pool were probably 2nd on the list of things to do after they finished their scans of Sputnik. Duh!

If one vulcan stayed on Earth, I want to know what he thought ten years later when the frist episode of Star Trek came on.

I get to watch this tonight, last night i had class so i taped it. (at least i hope it is on the tape, and i didn’t accidently record an hour of C-SPAN!!)

Overall I found the show amusing, but I think there was some problems.

One of the arguments for leaving the humans in the mine to die was that since they live to only 70 years, you are just delaying their death by a short time. This seems a really poor argument from a race that has met all sorts of other beings which probably have a range of lifespans. Not only that, but the people trapped were also family providers.

They lied a little too much for me especially when there are so many shows that have mentioned how they never lie. Really, do you have to pretend the guy is dead for him to stay on Earth? Why not just resign your comission? Would Vulcan forcibly remove him? It would seem more logical if he is adamant about staying, they could modify his appearance to be more human and keep tabs on him. It would be in their interest to have someone monitoring this “emerging civilisation”.

Then again, Vulcans are not usually written too well.

If you HAVE a sonic screwdriver, you’re gonna USE a sonic screwdriver.

I mean, it’s just obvious.
