Oh for fuck’s sake. It’s “A Piece of the Horse Pucky.”
Oh God now it will be Spectre behind the Gun. Last Time I checked the Original series did these short cuts because they didn’t have much money. No excuse for these lamoid story ideas.
And there is this little gem coming up. Crap do’t they read trek threads… wasn’t genisis seen as a crapload… why revisit it?
Come to think of it, if they wanted to do a cool story arc how about this… The Earth is attacked by an unknown vessel. They follow the ion trail to… ROMULAN SPACE. A war breaks out between Earth and Romulas.
Gee why do something boring like that when we can have neato aliens and spooky expanses and… Feh. They don’t know why they are failing and looking at the synopsis of a few upcoming episodes I see myself tuning out again.
:smack:
Thanks Viva for the upcoming birthday wishes! and thanks too to Monstre for pointing me towards Stephen McHattie. What a prolific actor, no wonder he sounded familiar.
You’re really eager for the Romulan War, aren’t you?
It would be a damned site better than this drawn out we have to find the Xindi thing…
After ten episodes it will get really tired. We have new information, oh that was wrong. Someone says they have information, oh they lied. We have got new information, oh they died before we could get it.
Can you really expect this to go on for a full season?
At least with a War that can make an excelent backdrop to some good dramatic stories without the artiface of being on some overly long quest. A quest to… what find the enemy and then run away faster than it took you to find them? Attack them with a single ship?
I am looking forward to the Mad Zombie Vulcans though.
NOT Starfleet. Recall this exchange from last season (replayed in the teaser):
InChargyGuy: “How do you feel about taking military with you?”
Quantum: “I don’t mind having NON STARFLEET personel on board. Blah blah blah…”
(or the essence thereof)
In TNG, Roddenberry was always trying to say , mostly through Picard, that Starfleet wasn’t military. A major nit which actually got me in a Phil Farrand newsletter.
Where were Kirok and Miramani living? Also, there was a StarGate 20/20 very much like this from about three seasons ago. :::sigh:::
:::sigh:::
Next time, on an all-new Enterprise!
Archer is held captive on a planet by people who call themselves Yangs and Kohms! No, wait… Archer finds a world that is a big giant ocean… yeah! um… filled with… mutant jellyfish… No, next week, Archer slips into an alternate universe and enounters his evil twin!
[whistles]
Here, original plot! Here boy! Come! Good boy, now sit.
Hey, no fair spoiling who is actually behind the Xindi going bonkers…
Hey, after all, it’s only seven years to the end of the human/Romulan war (fought with nookyular weppins). Gotta speed things up a bit…
FYI (rating stuff):
And knowing is half the battle!
G.I. Joe joke for those inclined. . .
So ill they go the who 7 season stretch or call it quits early… any bets?
So will they go the whole 7 season stretch or call it quits early? Any bets?
My prediction we get this season and one more if the ratings stay the same, or just this season if they continue going south. If it does get canned this season, that’s it for new Trek for quite a while.
it’s funny when UPN starts complaining of low ratings
I’m sure Enterprise will last seven years. What else does UPN have? 'sides, isn’t UPN a Paramount network? I don’t see Paramount getting rid of its marquee franchise like that.
By the way, anyone want to start a pool on how long it takes for Archer to bring a Xindi onboard as part of the crew? Or for somebody from TNG, DS9, or Voyager to make a cameo via some sort of subspace anomaly?
All I wanna know is why a Major in whatever the heck it is ground combat service is addressing a Naval Lieutennant as “sir”. That was the only thing that really annoyed me about the episode - Navy Lieutennants are the equivalent of Captains in the other services, and Major outranks Captain. Malcolm’s reaction to the MACO Major’s reccomendation that his men handle the rescue should’ve been “Yes, sir. May I come along to observe as Enterprise’s security chief?”
As for the rescue itself, I liked it. Commandos dropping from the ceiling, quiet phasers shooting quick pulses instead of “give the position away instantly” beams, and I liked the pop-up sniper scope. And Federation personnel with hand-to-hand combat skills - who’d have thunk it?
Yes, but you got to remember this is the future and ranks may have evolved and such so that----
OMG MACO’s dropping from the ceiling!!!

WANT TAPE!
I think Aes wants a tape.
I shall render them helpless with my sullen and pensive expression. Like this:

See?
