Entertainment and sports marketing... Is this some scam I don't know about?

I anwered this vague ad seeking “management” trainees for entertainment and sports marketing. To start, there is paid training and then the rest is “profit sharing.” The scope of the work was to put “entertainment package promotions” together for clients. I really didn’t understand all of what the guy was saying because he really wouldn’t go into detail, but he kept saying he was looking for the “right candidate” and looking to fill four positions. Supposedly you are in management after a year. Anyone ever hear of this sort of thing? I think it is a big fucking scam. Anyway, I just got pissed and told the guy I wouldn’t throw it all away for his shitty little company.

My wife worked for one of these places briefly. Turned out to be door-to-door sales of discount books. You’d have a booklet or big card advertising a restaraunt. There would be so many coupons on the card for various discounts. The card would sell for $20, and you’d get maybe $7 of that. After the paid training, which wasn’t much for two weeks, it was straight commission. There were days when she’d walk her butt off all day to get $20 in commission, and have to pay taxes herself out of that. After a few months, she finally realized that the line they were feeding her was a bunch of bull and gave up on it.

Sounds like it. I asked if it was selling coupon books and he dodged my question. I knew the job was bullshit, man I knew it. Thanks for your insight cstamets.
