Epic facebook meltdown from Gordon Ramsey's Kitchen Nightmares

Oh, maybe there aren’t dopers, but I am willing to bet that if some person is not a confederate of Amy’s Baking Company (and it may be the case that every person at this reopening event is, in fact, an ‘actor’ in their employ), that at least 50% of the clientele are going to be trolls.

In a response, the owners stated that “yelpers” who had denigrated them and were harassing them came specifically to their restaurant during the show to bully them a bit more. So, according to them, the people we see during the meltdown were there to cause it.

Just summing up their point of view.

I call bullshit. How in the world would Yelp reviewers know to show up on the day the cameras were set up ?? Do restaurants typically advertise that day so that their best customers can be in the store? If so, then damnation- that skews every single thing that happens in front of house while the cameras are rolling.

:dubious:

The customers in the restaurant when the show was filmed applied to be there. From the Phoenix New Times, “To make reservations to dine at Amy’s while the film crew is there, email scottsdalerest@gmail.com (the email address is the only way to get reservations, phones at the restaurant will not be answered during filming.).”

And the same paper reported that the PR firm quit earlier today.

There are reports that, in order to be hired, applicants had to have not seen the Kitchen Nightmares episode.

That’s hilarious! Do you have a link or anything?

The gift that just keeps on giving.

I think they are missing an opportunity here. If they could PR this train wreck they would be revered as Gods among men.

I’m pretty sure they tried their best to PR this nightmare but finally gave up.

I wonder how the relaunch is going.

It’s hilarious that they’re still sticking to the “hacking” story.

The news is they’re having a grand reopening. They just had a “job fair” to hire 30 new staff in all positions. And they’ve got a boatload of reservations. So there probably won’t be an empty table in the place.

The chef is ultra defensive about criticism of her food (i.e. this is underdone) and doesn’t seem to do well under pressure. As is her partner/husband/owner. They’ve got completely new staff and they’re going to be VERY busy with most of their customers there to see the trainwreck, not enjoy the dining.

IMHO, This. Will. Not. Turn. Out. Well.

I bet a lot of those reservations end up being no shows.

Something tells me some of the 30 new hires will also be no-shows.

I *love *this train wreck! Please go on forever!

And maybe it will!

Now Samy’s facing deportation! Thank you God!

This just gets better and better. Drug distribution and extortion? Yeah, there’s no way that guy has ever laundered any money.

Also, managing to get yourself permanently barred from entering both France and Germany is impressive.

Damn you all. We don’t want him back.

Well, we don’t want them to stay here and end up with a reality show…

Here’s a write-up from the Phoenix New Times about the re-opening. It notes the six cops and security guards that shooed away news crews and gawkers. And the restaurant was open only to those who had made reservations. (Presumably that will change, as this isn’t a fine-dining restaurant.) And the article ends with this curious bit.

If the restaurant sticks to pizza and sandwiches they could possibly ride it out and limp along. The problem comes when she actually have to cook - burgers, salmon cakes, and the like. The food doesn’t look horrible. It just doesn’t look outstanding in any way. You can get the same from CPK or Panera and it’ll be probably of comparable quality.
