Episode of Cheers with 2 men/light beer

I’m trying to remember if this scene was in an episode of Cheers. Two men come into a bar and order light beers, the bartender automatically assumes they’re gay because they ordered light beers.

Was this in an episode of Cheers or perhaps another show? I remember seeing this around 1992, although I’m almost sure it was a rerun at that time.

I know, not a lot to go on.

I’m pretty sure I saw something like that on some show. Maybe it was Cheers but I don’t recall any particulars, and now that you mentioned Cheers it’s hard to think of it happening on any other show.

If that’s the Cheers episode that I’m (sorta) remembering, it wasn’t the bartender who assumed that they were gay, it was Norm and Cliff, and they started trying to scare Sam that Cheers was going to turn into a gay bar if gays started hanging out there (“Ferns, Sammy, ferns!)” Later Sam discovered that they weren’t gay at all, but that two other guys, regulars at the bar, are in fact gay. At the end they both kiss Norm on his (facial) cheeks.

I just hunted for the episode in IMDB and it was called "The Boys in the Bar’ and the whole first part was about a former teammate and roommate of Sam’s coming out of the closet. That’s what led to the rest of the episode. But it’s from the first season, January 1983, so it may not be the one you’re thinking of, unless you did see it as a rerun.

Perfect! And thanks. I’m sure it was a rerun as I worked the night shift in 1992 and often watched reruns at odd hours. Shows like Cheers were perfect as they didn’t require 100% focus just in case some actual work came in.

It’s the one.
