Episodes of shows you love that everyone else hates...

Some people consider “Midnight” among the WORST of NuWho?! That episode blew my mind!

Not one of my favorite episodes, but, yeah, not that bad. Buffy and Riley, under the spell of the haunted house, boning it up all day long. A lot of people hate it because they hate Riley, another thing I never got.

(My big gripe with the episode is a totally gratuitous shot of one of them reaching into a drawer and grabbing a condom package from a large pile of such. Obviously, a heavy-handed safe sex message. They could have totally redeemed it by showing the now-empty drawer at the end of the episode.)

I also liked “Beer Bad”, I certainly didn’t think it was the worst episode of them all.

This might not count for everyone, but I do seem to be in the minority on this one: I loved the series finale of Lost.

deleted.

“Him” is the worst episode of Buffy. Fortunately it was followed by “Conversations with Dead People,” one of the best episodes.

ETA; “Beer Bad” is far from my favorite, but it isn’t that bad. When Cave-Buffy clubs the douchebag, that was funny.

This isn’t an episode, but on SNL I enjoy the ‘whats up with that’ skits despite critics saying they are getting old. I still enjoy them.

Another vote for Tuvix…

It was a good fictional moral dilemma.

TOS The Way To Eden

I liked the space hippies, Spock jamming, “we reach, Herbert,” etc… Showed a side of things out of the norm.

Heh, that’s what I came in to mention. The last one or two were kinda weak, but I really had fun with most of the Ferengi episodes.

I liked season six of Buffy, which seems to get a lot of hate. I thought it was as good as any of the earlier seasons. (Season seven was legitimately terrible though, it was pretty clear both the writing staff and cast had checked out at that point).

Star Trek TNG-“The Royale”. True absurdism but it worked for me.

“Exposé” was the first one I thought of when reading the title. It’s one of the best episodes of the entire run of Lost, and completely justifies the existence of Nikki and Paulo. No sarcasm.

I didn’t really start watching the serious until around 2008 on DVD. I liked the puppet episode. I thought the series peaked with season 5, I strongly disliked season 6 and while season 7 was a slight improvement I think they did an excellent job with the series end.

Season 7 was a thousand times better on DVD than on TV. The pacing was all wrong with a week between each episode - it felt like nothing was happening but standing around speechifying and Buffy moping. On DVD, it all happens so fast it’s dizzying and you can hardly catch your breath. I still can’t quite figure that out.

I agree with “Love and Monsters.” Excellent episode and I dont understand why it’s disliked so much.

I’ll add “Paradise Towers,” which I find brilliant on all levels. The societies in the tower are all a hoot (I loved the Rezzies), and it’s fun to see Grimm’s Law in effect (and without explanation). And Richard Briers!

“The Power of Kroll” is also pretty good. It does have the worst special effects in the series (and that says a log), but the story is solid.

Per this thread (“Worst Futurama episode”), apparently there’s a lot of hate for “A Pharaoh to Remember” and “The Honking”. I don’t love “The Honking” but I don’t dislike it either. I do really like “Pharaoh” and I’m not sure I understand the objections to it. Someone mentioned it “just has Bender being a total dick for no reason,” which doesn’t make any sense; how is that different from Bender normally?

I consider “Anne” the worse episode of Buffy. I can’t begin to explain my hate for that episode, but it’s the worst!

“Foamy!”

I loved season six of Buffy. It’s in my top two favourite seasons, maybe even my over-all fave.

I generally liked “Doublemeat Palace.” I wouldn’t call it a favorite episode, but I was impressed with how Joss Whedon and friends weren’t going to gloss over the fact that even superheroes gotta pay the bills, and they can’t always pick the most glamorous ways to get that done.

I like “Tuvix” too, and I don’t think it’s all that unpopular. People are displeased by Janeways murderous actions in the episode, but that’s not quite the same thing as saying the episode is bad the way that, fex, “Threshold” is.

What kind of Herbert doesn’t like “The Way to Eden?” It is one of the best episodes of TV out there, even better than the punk rock episode of Quincy.

It had a good line in it though.

“Hey Anne, want to see my Gandhi impression?” Smashes demon’s head in.
“Gandhi?”
“Well, if he was really pissed off.”

“The Principal and the Pauper” is a damn funny Simpsons episode. I don’t know what people have against it. Something to do with continuity, maybe? As if “continuity” is a word that can be applied to the Simpsons with a straight face.
