And the football season rolls round again. It doesn’t seem so long ago that the last tournament finished before the English League is starting again.

If anyone is interested I have renewed the SDMB League on http://fantasy.premierleague.com in an attempt to do better than last year. Anyone who was part of it last year will be automatically included. Anyone new who wants to join in the code is 94614-66390. The 1st Gameweek is 14th August so all teams will need to be in by then. You have unlimited transfers until that point, so plenty of time to react to the latest gossip.

Last year’s EPL Fantasy Football 2009/2010, was won by chelseafc.

Look out for the new rules

  1. Saved transfers carry over multiple Gameweeks
  2. An extra wildcard for the January transfer window
  3. Lose 2 points for an own goal
    Also the fun of joining a random head-to-head or points based league.

Selhurst Blues are once again ready to take on all-comers.

I’m in, even though I would much rather have an NFL-type fantasy league (not quite as much fun when midway through the season everyone’s roster is 85% the same…). Besides, over half the fun of any fantasy sport is used up in the four-hour draft/trash talk session before the season actually starts <g>

“Drafts” don’t really exist as such in European sport, so it would be a bit odd to have a Premiership draft.

interesting price tweaks this time round. Makes it harder for people to build a team with more than one or two “superstars” without inflicting serious damage to the line up elsewhere.

My first foray into an EPL league should lead to some serious guffawing and point differentials from the rest of ya. I signed up - QuincyTown.

Well we have already had interesting transfers going on which my affect people’s choices. I’ll be honest I wasn’t expecting Joe Cole to go to Liverpool. Somehow picking Maschereno might not have been a good idea. But he is still not available choice, while Insua is still there despite leaving for sunnier climes.

Now, I’m waiting to see if Drogba leaves Chelsea for Man City. He won’t be worth quite as much if that happens but should make things very interesting.

I’m in. After hearing Steve Bruce sing the praises of Titus Bramble I signed him for Mascaronese.
I’ll probably be playing Championship Fantasy Football next season…

I saw on Facebook that there’s a Fantasy Premier League app (Redirecting...) that lets you compete to earn title of Legendary Manager, the highest honour. You also get to earn medals & trophies. I guess this is something extra than the typical fantasy football you’re playing. Below are also some cool features they’re offering.

-You can earn £0.5 mil extra budget when you invited your friends to join
-Earn over 14 medals & trophies - Hattrick Star, Golden Boot Medal, Top Manager Medal etc
-Earn experience levels
-Earn rank title, from Rookie Manager to Legendary Manager

On the other hand with rumours of Torres joining Man City, Beckham and Owen joing West Ham, the silly season has only just begun.

Well there is a fair spread of teams there, I just wish the transfer season was over so I could go and finalise a squad.

As the very smug winner of last years SDMB league, I am bumping this thread to remind everybody that I won last years SDMB league. Oh, and the new Premier league site is up and running if anybody is interested in trying again this year.
