Just got back from Equilibrium. A excellent sci fi noir flick with a mix of matrix. Christian Bale is now one of my favorite action stars with slickness and style as well as a vivd portrayal of a man denied emotions his entire life to confront a overwhelming rush of them as he quits taking his drug to supress them.
Had a very 1984 quality to it and after viewing, “gunkata” blows Matrix fighting off the charts.
It being burned by the damn producers who have decided not to turn up the heat and put it in more theaters (its only in 300 nationwide!). If you are close or far, try and go see it.
I loved it. Gonna be a cult film for sure.
I forgot this came out. It looked like Metroplis with Guns. Maybe i will see it.

I think this film is going to pass under most people’s radar - I haven’t seen a lot of press for it, and it was only available in one theater in my area (of course, if the 300 nationwide figure is true, I suppose I should be glad it’s around at all). It’d be a shame if this film bombs because it certainly looks like it cost a bundle and a half to make, and they’ll have to make money somehow.
I really enjoyed this film. There were a couple “common sense vs. plot” nitpicks to it, but overall I had fun watching it without being buried in the cliche of “in the future, everyone’s oppressed except this guy, and now he fights.” I’ve seen gunfight movies, I’ve seen martial art movies, but I don’t think I’ve seen gunplay presented as a martial art before to such an extent (but then, I haven’t seen a lot of movies). Special points to John Doe for being one of the first folks to get blown away.
If it’s destined for cultdom, pass me the Kool-Aid.
I hadn’t seen anything about the movie till I saw a recommendation on Penny Arcade. Watched the trailer and I’ll probably wind up seeing it.
