What the hec is going on with the writers of this once good show? Repeat plot from previous shows. Animals in the ER. Child abuser docs. I think “Without a Trace” is calling me.
I had the episode on mute the whole show cuz I was on the phone, but I coudln’t believe what I was seeing.
A robot patrolling the ER?
A baby monkey? Being treated in the ER at Cook County? And where did the papa monkey come from at the end? Did someone notify the baby’s parents or something? “Mr. Bear, I have some bad news. How soon can you get to County?” And if someone tells me that that papa monkey came in on the El, so help me…
And what happened to that one nurse?
I was pretty glad I had this one on mute, I think.
Happy
So when is the episode where one of the docs waterskies over a shark? Or did that happen 3 seasons ago?
I forgot it was on! Then again I was distracted by Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow. drool
For some reason, I thought the series ended last season, so I didn’t bother watching the season premier because I thought it was just a re-run. So, after watching this series from the beginning, I haven’t watch any episodes this season. I can honestly say I haven’t missed it and I’m glad to finally have my Thursday evening free again.
You have (had) a choice, especially since Alex Kingston was on opposite of ER on Without a Trace as a guest star. Coincidence? I think not.
My wife was a big fan of the show and now could care less if it’s on.
I think she did like a lot of others and now watches Gray’s Anatomy.
Yep, I sat through it, volume on.
Missed the part about the child abusing doc, though. Unless you mean Ray, in which case, I wouldn’t really consider him a child abuser, especially since he didn’t know.
(A robot patrolling the ER?) That was that freaky doctor. He’s recovering from cancer or something and is too weak to come in, so he annoys via robot. Until Leguizamo locked him/it in a closet.
(A baby monkey? Being treated in the ER at Cook County?) IIRC, Leguizamo was doing a favor for a college buddy. And it was a chimp. 96% human. (That was from the episode, no snark intended)
(And where did the papa monkey come from at the end? Did someone notify the baby’s parents or something?) It was the mother, and actually, yes they notified the buddy to bring the mother. Apparently “it’s the humane thing to do.”
(And what happened to that one nurse?) Third Rock nurse fired her for taking OT.
Used to be my favorite show.
Now I just watch to see how low they’ll go.
I wonder about the nurse they fired; she’s been on for so long I wonder if she’s really gone or if there’ll be some future lawsuit or maybe they’ll get so desperate Sally-nurse will send the other one she put in charge to bring her back. See? It’s so bad now I can’t even remember their names anymore!
Well, except Pratt. (Isn’t it Pratt, or was that the other token black doctor?) I’m wanting to punch him for not forgiving his father. But I’d give anything for an apology from my own dad for the same reason. I bet his father will die in the next few episodes and we’ll see weeks of his grief over never forgiving him and then he and his brother will start bonding, then brother will be shot and…and…
and I really just don’t care anymore.
I stopped watching ER shortly after Clooney left. I’m not a doctor, but I don’t think there’s an explosion or shootout in your typical emergency room every other week. But what really did it for me was the way they edit their commercials to make it look like things happen that don’t. I still remember the one that was the final straw: the commercial showed Dr. Greene’s daughter playing in a soccer match when she goes down in front of the goal, the crowd jumps up and reacts, and then cut to Dr. Greene and crew in the ER working on a kid, all with a voiceover implying something serious occured. In the actual episode, she made a sliding block to save a goal, the crowd reacted to the save, and she got up and kept playing. The kid in the ER was much later in the episode and totally unrelated. I never watched the show after that.
For me it’s not so much “how low can they go” as that I enjoy a little theater of the absurd now and then. The robotic Dubenko was pretty hilarious.
I’m not a doctor. I love animals. Both of those firmly in place, even I would get really p.o.d if I found out the nurse/doctor who is treating my child has been taking time away from rotations to treat a baby chimp. I am sure that the vets at most zoos are far more capable of giving them quality care.
AND JUST HOW THE HELL MANY AERIAL CATASTROPHES DOES THE AVERAGE HOSPITAL ENDURE? There was the one that cut off Romano’s arm, the one that killed Romano, now the one that results in John Stamos coming on board. Maybe this one will bring Romano back to life and the show will get good again.
Aerial catastrophes, Eastern Europeans, weird sex, chimps being treated— is John Irving now the head writer? If there’s a bear on a bicycle in the ER next weekend we’ll know for sure.
PS- Does anybody else get a lesbian vibe from Third Rock from the Sun nurse where Alex is concerned?
Yes. From Day One. No other reason for last night’s scene when Eve surprised a half-undressed Sam.
And she was concerned with Al’s relationship with Luka, and singles her out for promotion, etc…
I wonder if Haleh will continue to be on the show or if she’s being written off. She’s one of the few left who’s been there since the beginning.
I didn’t watch it, which nurse got fired?
On second thought, don’t answer that. I’m happily divorced from this series and don’t want to be drawn back in.
It wasn’t Chuny was it? She is my favorite. I would be very upset if she were fired.
Nevermind, I don’t want to know.
Well, maybe just a hint?
Is Chuny still on the show? I don’t remember seeing her this season.
(there’s your hint)
What, there need to be REASONS for scenes with half-undressed Sam? (Or Abby or Neela?)
Meh, then I really haven’t missed anything this season. Now, I’m not just disinterested, I’m disaffected and actively boycotting this show!
Here’s a hint:
Haleh (the black lady who lost 100 pounds over the past couple of years
She was fired for too much overtime after repeated warnings.
I could have done without Robot Doc and the baby chimp, too.
At least Sam’s kid wasn’t in this one, though. That always helps.
Are the other nurses still around? I don’t recall seeing much of them lately.
