There used to be a website dedicated to reviewing ER episodes, both from story line and medical accuracy. Unfortunately, I don’t have the url anymore and they stopped updating it about two years ago. But one thing they pointed out is always true: no one in the ER can ever be happy for long - if they are happy it is a set up for a downfall. Keri implies that to be a good boss you will be hated, it comes with the job. But Keri was always hated because she was relentlessly political and scheming - she never struck me as being a good boss or any kind of leader, she was always management by cliche, sarcasm and intimidation. So maybe they might be able to come up with a plot line that has Susan trying to enforce discipline (all the ER personnel should be in an Abu Ghraib like prison for one medical crime or another) but still maintain her friendships and have a happy marriage and be a good mother. Maybe she will succeed, lose a little weight, and be happy. But not for long.
Carter at least is being true to his character - he was never able to really commit to any woman - probably hung up on his grandma. At least this time his could have been wife gave him mixed signals. At any rate, I guess Carter’s attitude is something like absence makes the heart grow cooler. Is he going to fly to Indonesia now
