IMO it’s perfectly legit to sue a hotel where this happens to you because of one or more employee(s) being negligent about divulging your information to third parties, whoever you may be. This is not just a matter of the invasion of privacy (to a degree that exceeds what “someone in the public eye” is commony expected to tolerate) but also of the potential safety/security breach. BUT for that same reason I completely took it for granted from day 1 that there would be such a lawsuit. So my reaction is, “So, why is this being announced now? It’s old news, call me when there’s a judgement or settlement.” So the first half of Option 2 is true, but Option 3 applies.
