ESPN, what the fuck???!!!

I realize that you have to fill 24 hours, in a row with "sports of some kind, and that means you put fishing and other outdoor “sports” on, (mainly on ESPN2), but you’ve gone too far.

I turn on ESPN2 last night and there it was!!! NBA pre-season basketball.

Except it wasn’t pre-season, hell training camps don’t open for another 2 1/2 months. This was some bullshit summer league games that truly mean less then nothing.

Come on, you could re-run those NBA finals videos and everything would be fine. Hell, you could even run all of the Super Bowl highlight videos and doing that would make more sense then televising these basketball “games.”

Ok, I’m done.

man.

slow pit day.

The horror … the horror …

That’s nothing. I turned on ESPN 2 one day and saw a Magic: The Gathering tournament being played. ESPN 2 truly has some bizarre programming sometimes.

What you talking about Willis?? M:TG is a great game. Only problem is the expense.

Neurotik:

You must (please tell me you must) be joking. They didn’t really broadcast that, did they? Sure, Magic:TG is a great game. Thousands of folks love it.

But it’s not a spectator sport, for God’s sake!

There are hundreds of thousands of competitions at the Pro, Semi-pro, Pro-Am, Celebrity, College, Junior College, Minor League, Bush League, Prep, High School, Junior High, Middle School, et al leve which could be broadcast. People playing cards just is not entertaining. Bowling is more stimulating.

Apparently you’ve never seen their broadcasts of the World Series of Poker or the National Spelling Bee Championship.

Hell, I have a hard time accepting Billiards on ESPN. What’s next, Quarter Bounce? Euchre? I Spy With My Little Eye?

I like to think of ESPN as the “Orange Pie Piece Network.” Any pastime that is likely to be the subject of a question in the orange section of “Trivial Pursuit” – i.e., sports and leisure – can fit in comfortably on the network.

ESPN needs to bring back AUSTRALIAN RULES FOOTBALL!!

Twister? Roshambo? Hot Cockles?

I don’t know if they still do this, but ESPN2 did show the Magic: The Gathering Pro Tour. I never watched it, since when I was really into Magic I didn’t get ESPN2 like I do now. But The Duelist, Scrye, and InQuest magazines all reported it as fact and there were even some articles about how neat it was for the game to finally be “accepted” by the mainstream. At the time, I thought the idea of watching M:TG on TV was the neatest thing since dual lands.

Oh, please God YES!
Somebody on this board must know somebody at ESPN.

We’ve been good little drones for years. Please, please, please Santa Claus. Please give us regularly televised Australian Rules Football.

Heh heh heh- no smart alecky post ever goes unnoticed. . .

Australian Rules Football, to put it simply, RULES!

I can not get enough of the smallish, former used bookstore owner looking refs that give the signals when a goal is scored.

He speaks the truth.

It was hilarious. Do you remmeber those Olympic four-minute vignettes on each athlete where they shoot the athlete in soft focus, and show 30 seconds of the athlete at rest, 1 minute with their family, 2 minutes training? They actually had “Player profiles” for the Magic players. Imagine Olympic vignettes except where the subject is wearing black jeans, an X-Files T-shirt, isn’t athletic, and doesn’t appear to be well acquianted with soap.
