As if the gaming world needed more bad press, because as you know, us gamers are responsible for almost every bad thing a kid has done.

I saw a report on this on the news and I have to say what’s really appalling is the piss poor graphics and sound. I mean, why not just make a total conversion of a good game? They couldn’t sell it then I guess, but it would get more kids playing it so you can give them your message.
We know you’re kidding, Eternal (you are, right?), but we should be grateful they haven’t attracted any significant game development talent yet. Much as we like to think all hate mongers are knuckle-dragging Cro Magnons, too many are clever and savvy. Eventually, they will manage to produce a game with mainstream quality, and it’ll reach an even greater segment of the market. Oy, veh!

I feel physically ill.
Maybe I’m getting less firey these days, but I just feel mildly annoyed by the rampant stupidity displayed by this crapfest. I’d never buy it, and I’d regard with massive suspicion anyone who would (after severing any ties I have with them), but it doesn’t make me ‘physically ill’. It’s just a game that will never hit the mainstream, will never make its maker rich, and will never even be noticed by 95% of the gaming public. In short, it isn’t worth getting sick over.
I can sympathize with you, however. The best way to calm the feelings is to do something nice with friends. Maybe make a new one. Prove to yourself that most people are intelligent most of the time. Anyone who would play that game is an aberration, someone who cannot fit in to the mainstream of normal, well-adjusted people.
Finally, some minority representation in gaming!

I feel stupid for saying just that…anyway, as a member of a minority targeted by this sort of crap, I feel sorry for people that are that full of hate. I only think that if there are people out there who would hate me only because of what I am - or what they think I am - they must not have much of a life to begin with. And that goes for all people who hate someone else for no good reason.
I only worry some little kid who has racists for parents get this game and decides to do it for real at his middle school.

Regarding the Iliad and the Odyssey: I guess they figure that if you’re going to be a slimy little racist, you might as well be a literate one.
Not having a sufficiently warped mind (at least not in the direction of our white supremacist friends), I can’t be sure why Homer is one of their heroes. However, one could surmise that since the greeks maintained slaves, they must be some great role models. Why they would be preferred over any of the other slave-holding ancients is beyond me, however. Perhaps another reason is that in the Odyssey, Odysseus’ travels take him to many lands, and he encounters other “races.” And he kills quite a few. I dunno.
I wondered about this when I read the page as well. Perhaps a classicist can jump in here and help us out.

I feel the same way about this game as I do about, say, Eminem. It’s their right to say it, my right to disagree, and by people getting all up in arms about it, they just get more and more free publicity.
So just deny them the attention they are craving.
