Eudora

I want to give one of my users access to his office email from home.
Has anyone used Eudora with AOL?

Last I knew, you couldn’t access AOL email from anything but AOL – the last exception, Claris Emailer, having been plugged by AOL awhile back.

If, however, you mean running Eudora on top of a TCP/IP connection established by AOL and using it to retrieve non-AOL email, it works fine. Or it did the last time I used AOL dialup to establish a TCP connection, which was admittedly some time back.

If your office email is @aol.com, then you will want the person to use the AOL webmail to check his/her email from home.

If your employee’s ISP is AOL and he/she wants to use Eudora, I believe he/she can download email to the computer running AOL but not send it (read this for some insight) using the non-AOL work address.

Do some searching on http://www.google.com for “aol smtp eudora” for more answers on how to configure it.

Good luck!

Thanks, his IP at home is AOL.
He will be using Eudora to get his email from work and respond to it while he’s off for a while.
Thank goodness he isn’t using Outlook.

I have created a filter at work that sends a copy of all my email (GroupWise)to my Hotmail account. Also, I have created a similar filter in Eudora from home that sends a copy of all my home email to my Hotmail account. I can now access all my email at Hotmail.com.

A sentiment I’ve expressed often myself. I’d rather use AOL!
