Eudora stopped receiving, sending mail

I use an iMac with Eudora for e-mail and a local ISP. About a week ago, Eudora stopped receiving and sending mail. I know mail is coming in because I can check it on the Web. But when I check mail, nothing comes in. I have outgoing mailed queued up, but when I hit “send,” it acts like it’s sending, but it doesn’t and the messages remain queued.

The only thing that has changed is that the ISP recently sent around a message saying that we should turn on SSL.

I spent about an hour on the telephone yesterday and the only solution they could come up with is to switch over to Outlook Express. Needless to say, I find this an unsatisfactory solution.

Any ideas?

I’m using Eudora with Windows, but the setup should be the same: Go into Tools/Options, and under “checking mail” there should be a dropdown box titled “Secure sockets when receiving.” Check with your ISP for which setting you should use here; you may be able to find this information on their web site in the FAQ or Help files.
