Don’t give me that do goody good bullshit.
Liberal: tax and spend. Conservative: borrow and binge.
Under the Liberals, Canada had ten years of budget surpluses and paid down part of its debt, thus putting itself in a much better position for the needed borrowing when the recession came. (I don’t consider the stimulus spending in this instance to be bad, even though the Conservatives did it.) The Liberals also retained strong regulation of banks, which prevented a US-style borrowing meltdown in Canada.
We simply do better under Liberals.
One thing about the OP’er, though - he’s got amazing powers of observation. Surprise, surprise, surprise!
Wherever he lives he’s really behind the times with his cable channel choices though. I think he only has thirteen channels of shit on the TV to choose from.
I live in California but work for a European corporation. They are doing better than ever, in fact they did very well throughout the “Great Recession”.
Don’t panic, man, we’ll find a preserve for them. I happen to know of this huge, dangerously underpopulated country in Asia. Unfortunately, its government does not have the best record on conservationism . . .
How come the economy does better under Democratic presidents then? And going back to your first post, how come they largely have better health outcomes/education results etc. etc. than we do? Which major corporations have they driven away and where are Muslims starting to take over?
he’s back! hurrah!
However your point is demonstrably wrong.
Exhibit a) Angus Young, guitarist with ACDC. Is successful and not a violent man - wears school uniform
Exhibit b) Charles Manson - Deranged wierdo, maniac and murderer - does not wear a school uniform
I think that is all the evidence I require. And I apologise for derailing slightly with a reference to music. There’ll be no more of that I promise.

Samus, I think what Novelty Bobble means here is: WROOOO-oong ! Do it again !
I don’t know. I was really drunk at the time.
Hey! Dopers! Leave Samus alone!
Actually, you’re right. And it’s not like his/her assessment is entirely undue, is it ? But the question and debate then becomes, what should Europe do about it ?
Should we work straight through the night ? Should we get into fights ? Leave the lights on ? Drop bombs ? Do tours of the East ? Contract diseases ? Bury bones ? Break up homes ? Send flowers by phone ? Take to drink ? Go to shrinks ? Give up meat ? Rarely sleep ? Keep people as pets ? Train dogs ? Race rats ? Fill the attic with cash ? Bury treasure ? Store up leisure ?
What, in fact, shall we do to fill the conservative spaces where we used to work ?
ETA (I’d like to thank the SDMB for getting me to watch the Wall again. It had been entirely too long)
It’s nowhere near that simple; less water wasted on monoculture lawns, sure, but planting trees and shrubs that don’t require extra water, and help scrub the air, is a good thing.
Are you sure you posted this in the right thread? ![]()
It is actually destroying the entire continent - if you look closely at Norway, it’s really frayed at the edges.
Hey, that’s an award-winning coastline!
Libertarians know how to “manage an economy”? Is that sort of like how socialists know how to let the free market reign?
I’m sorry, this is a Pink Floyd cultural reference thread, not a Douglas Adams cultural reference thread. Please turn in your badge on your way out. Or we’ll send you back to mother in a cardboard box.
Oh how I pine for the fjords.
Or you’ll be late.
I was following on what Marley said the OP was doing in the other locked thread he started (basically post the very same mile long rants on a shitload of other sites) he must have been looking for a place were the grass was greener.
