why do you go back to the bible all the time? It is an awful book, we have fought this evil book for 100s of years in europe, we should fight all evil doctrines no matter the source

Islam has existed since the early 600s C.E. Politically, Islam for centuries ruled Iberia, and it was not that long ago (historically speaking) that it ruled a large swathe of southeastern Europe.

It’s the “youngest” major world religion but it’s been around for 1500 years, give or take. Hardly in its infancy.

Are you under the impression that there are Christian scholars challenging Christian texts? There aren’t. There are lots of Christian scholars who believe the Bible isn’t literally true, but is in fact a bunch of metaphors. There are also lots of Islamic scholars who believe the Qu’ran is a bunch of metaphors.
It’s like the sun is the same, in a relative way, but you’re older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death.
and by the way, if you want to take those scriptures seriously and defend them, go ahead. But I have no respect for your beliefs they should be mocked and laughed at just like communism and nazism and other ridiculous beliefs.

scamartistry my point and the reason I kept coming back to the bible is because you were wrong to imply that reading it would not be relevant to the discussion. What you now acknowledge (about it being a horrible book) probably makes the whole point moot, but you only just said that.
The bible is relevant because what it shows is that existence of horrible elements in key texts is a feature of both Christianity and Islam. There are Christians who think that the bible is literally the word of god and cannot be questioned. There are Christians who have appalling attitudes to women and gays. There is actually very little in common between some nominally moslem beer drinking womanising Indonesian and some immensely uptight fundamentalist Saudi. As soon as you start talking about a religion in monolithic terms you are well on the way to a lack of valuable insight. My username is the name of a street I used to live on. It has a mosque on it. The local Imam lived a few doors up. He was nice to both myself and my wife.
But you haven’t demonstrated that Islam has taken over Sweden either. You can’t extrapolate an Islamic takeover of France by providing evidence that Sweden hasn’t been taken over.
And I will, at this point, take issue with your characterization of Islam as a hateful religion. Certainly it has some adherents who believe in hateful beliefs and pursue hateful policies. This is not unique to Islam.
