Break a serious enough rule, waste your second chance, or consistently make an ass of yourself, and you’ve made your last post. What’s so difficult to understand?
Believe it or not, many posters manage to have an enjoyable stay here without ever getting warned by mods or admins. They’ve never had Pit threads dedicated to them or less-than-flattering remarks by complete strangers made about them. The rules aren’t a problem for them.
Kinda makes you wonder how they do it, don’t it?
You all realise that Australian schools don’t resume for another month and universities for another two months, don’t you?

A sock is short for sock puppet - a member of the SDMB that has multiple user names (a very big No-No that will get you banned). So a “sock patrol” mentioned by Fenris would be moderators on the look-out for members who are posting under more than one user-name (this can be discerned numerous ways such as posting style, content, etc.).
