Even worse than last week's MMP

It started to snow, again! It’s beautiful out there–all sparkly and powdery and stuff. I shovelled the driveway-it took me an hour (I have a long driveway). I made a huge vat of home-made mac and cheese (w/o peppermint chocolate cheddar, thankyouverymuch), and now here I am. Content in my world.

Hope all here have a nice night.

Nice ride, FCM!

And thanks for the recipe, Swampy. I keep needing pork recipes, 'cause pork loin and tenderloin is always on sale…

(What is this snow you speak of? It was 65° here today! Poor babies…)

rigs I for one am glad you refrained from the pepperment chocolate chip cheddar cheese mac & cheese.

FCM MMMMMMMMM… Salsa red car on a tortilla chip! We demand all the details.

Dindin was good. Plenty of leftovers for lunches tomorrow ensued. ACBG tells me he’s claiming his treat following a soak in the hot tub. I guess that means I should go get in the hot tub. Did I mention that tonight is spend the night night? Once again I fear for my virtue.

Nitey nite y’all!

I ran home between work and my meeting (looking at the clock…). There was 6 inches of fluffy snow in my driveway, at least it was the fluffy kind, and was no work at all to blow away.

I slammed down a few quickie quesadillas (fold tortilla around cheese like a taco, broil til lightly brown) and a glass of lemonade, now I’m off to a schtooopid meeting.

Bye ya!

Off to loll in a hot, bubbly tub…who plans evening meetings? They should be shot at dawn–AND NO BLINDFOLD.

I am home and none-the-worse for wear. The good news is that I tolerate the medication well. The bad news is I have to go be a pin cushion again in two weeks. They also gave me benedryl and solumedrol so I feel pretty good right now. Drove myself home, since I wasn’t able to make arrangements otherwise.
I locked my keys in my car a number of times. Most recently, at a wedding. It was a nice day. I saw that my friends were standing in the parking lot chatting because we were early. My passengers got out of the car, and I grabbed the gift envelope from my visor, got out of the car, pushed down the button, and gave the door a shove…just as I noticed the keys were still in the ignition. Luckily, we found a guy at a service station who came quickly and I only missed the first 10 minutes of the mass.
Now I keep my keys on one of those climbing hooks, which gets hung onto my pocketbook before I exit the car.

Yeah rosie!

swampy, dear, I thought we’d established that your virtue was…how to say this tactfully?..not actually there anymore?

I haven’t locked my keys in my car in a really really long time. Last (and only?) time I remember was about 5 years ago. Locked them in when I went to put gas in the car. Fortunately, roomie was home and could come and rescue me (I was only a couple blocks away).

Yay, rosie! Glad it went well.

That pork with sweet potatoes sounds yum. I think throwing an apple in would be good, too.

Glad to hear your family is doing well, Puggy; keep us updated on how you’re doing.

We have several inches of snow that started falling around 1:30 in the afternoon and did a marvelous job of tying up downtown traffic even though people started fleeing early on. My bus (which theoretically runs every 1/2 hour) was 45 minutes late. It was cold, but entertaining. (Lots of people- and traffic-watching opportunities.)

Lots of relief when the bus got there and a moment of applause when the driver successfully negotiated the one difficult left turn.

I’ve had soup and dressed warmly and have been unwinding now for a while.

Back later…

Evening, all. We’re supposed to get a couple inches of fluffy white stuff tonight. And it’s staying below freezing tomorrow so it should stay fluffy white stuff. If it turns out as pretty as hoped for, I’ll try to get a picture of the [del]idiots[/del] dogs romping in the yard like silly puppies.

FCM, the car, she is cute!

Yay, rosie! Glad to hear you tolerate the med well. Now I hope it helps!

Swampy dear, gt is right. Your virtue ran away a long time ago. But that’s okay, we love you anyway.

I’m off to do something constructive for a bit, and then crawl in bed and be lazy. I’m definitely due for an earlier bedtime tonight.

Night night, all!

Ah, yes, the car! I forgot the car! I like.

Swampbear, your recipe looks uber yummy, and I would like to try it out except I have one problem. What does N.O.T stand for??

If I was less tired I would make up some witty comment about what N.O.T may stand for, but as it is I am tired and my head is full of investment information. I am taking a community college course in personal finance (since I am no longer investing in my brain I figure I should invest in other things) and it is boring so far. I am hoping that the promise of huge returns later in life (using knowledge from aforementioned course) will keep me interested. I just can’t get excited about this topic, despite my love of having money. Off to bed.

N.O.T. = Not our Taters

School people, that’s who scheduled evening meetings. When you have to get the “community involved” in the decision making process, and the only time they can all get together is in the evening, you have evening meetings.

Bleh.

See, if I was smart (which I am all the time - except when I am tired, or hungry), I would have looked more closely at the recipe and noticed that the sweet potatoes mentioned in the title appear nowhere in the recipe and could have guessed at the mystery ingrediant. Thank you GT for the clarification. Now, off to bed.

Counterfeiters suck. Not to drag that mess in here, but I’m still kinda fuming. Partly at myself for not looking into it more closely, but mostly at the penis heads that make it necessary to do so in the first place. Bollocks! They all lack them!

Hmpf.

In other news, I discovered my home-local has lots of black-eyed peas. Bagged or canned. Now if I can just scare up some fresh cilantro…

Mama Tigs, I’m glad the insurance stuff is getting straightened out. Having medical issues is stressful enough without insurance problems on top of that.

Cherry, ya wanna send me some of those cheese grits? I love cheesy grits!

I hate slugs. It’s so disgusting when you sprinkle them with salt, and they dissolve into a nasty sluggy goo-pile.

rigs, you’re such a good person! That poor woman was having a Really Bad Day–I’m sure she was freaking out.

My brother would probably eat that cheese. He likes weird cheese. I think he’s only found one kind of cheese he doesn’t like. Too bad no stores around here sell mint-chocolate cheddar!

I only missed one class while I was in High School. 12th grade, English class. We’d just started when the janitor, Mr Lucas, comes in telling me to go see the receptionist and it’s not serious. So the teacher excuses me, I go to the door and Mrs Ana Mari (we allways called her Mrs Ana Mari, except her daughter who was in the next class, because of course she called her Mom) tells me I have to go home, but to the 3A flat, she doesn’t know why. I walk home (15’), go to 3A, the wife (whose third son was in my class) opens and out comes Mom, in glorious satiny sleeping shirt, bedrobe and slippers.

Turns out Mom had gone down to 3A to borrow some flour and she’d forgotten to take the keys. I opened the door and managed to refrain from laughing my ass off until I was back at the street. When I got to the school I informed the eagerly-waiting Mrs. Ana Mari and Mr. Lucas what the problem was and, since it was 15 minutes to the end of class and recess was next, they said they’d tell the teacher for me, so I took recess early.

As a classmate said, “hey, beats tonsillitis!”

I thought I felt an odd vibe from the west. avoids MBG’s glare

Rigs, I don’t even know what my thesis proposal is about. I’m trying to compare Asian American literary criticism in the US and Korea, but I don’t know what claim I’m trying to make here. I’ll have to make something up before next Monday - that’s when I need to get it signed.

And yes, the snow was lovely. And it wasn’t half as cold as it was last weekend. Yay!

Just got back from having a drink with some friends at the school pub. In the end it was just me and my Scottish Darling (my closest friend here) and the two of us bitched good-naturedly about two of our other friends who have recently started dating and are being rather lovey-dovey at the moment. I will admit, my bitterness stems from my current situation of being hung up on a guy who has no intention of breaking up with his girlfriend yet can’t seem to keep his hands off me. (Although both Scottish Darling and I are sincerely happy for our two friends, of course.) Ah well.

That crazy astronaut diaper lady was a trivia question on the pub quiz tonight. Too bad I didn’t bother to remember her name.

Spats, good luck with school stuff. I feel your pain!

MagicEyes - I’m sure I can send you some of that cheese, I bet it travels well!

Eeek! It’s -4 UK degrees out there today, that’s blummin’ cold. And tonight we’re promised about 15cms of the white fluffy stuff. I hope it arrives between 9pm and 11pm 'cos I’ll be out tonight and we could get snowed in at the pub. What a hardship that would be.

I had to take Shadow to the vet yesterday as they wanted to do a post-operative check on his stitches. He seems fine, he’s eating well and the stitches don’t look as if they’ve been pulled or chewed. He has a slightly lumpy bit at one end of the scar but the vet wasn’t too worried about that.

He also said that Shadow’s recent habits of weeing in inappropriate places is probably because he’s anxious and a bit upset about the change in his life. He gets fussed and spoiled and given all sorts of treats - what’s he got to be upset about? I expect he’s getting grief from Ophie who’s been shut in the house with him and shut out of the bedroom. Poor things…but at least the vet said it was ok for Shadow to go outside now, so the catflap’s open again.

It’s 41 Amurrkin right now in south Jawja. Just thought I’d share that.

rigs you have earned major karma points for helping that lady and her child yesterday.

Rosie glad things went well and you’re adjusting to the medication.

My virtue regenerates itself. Really. By noon today I shall be virtuous again.

MBG the purpose of night time meetings is to give the people who attend those meetings a reason to bitch about having night time meetings. I figured that out a long time ago.

ETA: BooFae I doubt that cheese would make it past security. :shudder: It should be considered a dangerous substance.
