Ever buy a fragrance which smells great in the store....

…and makes you WRETCH when you bring it home?

I have.

I got the Clairins Eau Dynamisante fragrance AND body lotion – and now I can’t stand it!!!

While we’re at it, my very expensive bottle of Bulgari Blu is giving me the dry heaves, too.

Maybe I’m just getting tired of perfumes, cuz even my Annick Goutal Folavril doesn’t do it for me either.

:frowning:

some perfumes make me sick, too.
Clinics (sp?) Happy gives me a instant headache.

I am really liking what Demeter has out there, but I’m starting to wonder if Snow is all its cracked up to be…it makes me a slight bit headachy.

I bought Jessica McClintock perfume a few years ago, and I still have a full bottle. I wore it one time. It makes me gag.

Actually, there are only 2 perfumes I can tolerate.

I wear Escape every once in a while
I wear Kate Spade everyday…I love that perfume

Everything else gives me a headache.

Oooohhhh, I was just in a Kate Spade boutique last week and didn’t notice her fragrance ~ maybe I’ll check it out!

And Peach, I bought Demeter’s “Gin 'n Tonic” fragrance a few years ago. I put that one in my “what was I thinking” file. :o

Lola, I didn’t even know she has perfume to be honest with you. One day I was walking through Bloomingdales, and the most wonderful spell of honeysuckles and lilac hit me. It’s not overpowering either. I love- love- love it.

that was suppose to be ‘had’ perfume…sorry

Not exactly; One time I put on a lot of Coolwater before I went to the gym. Midway through my intense, manly, workout I noticed that it had a bad, odoriphic, reaction with my sweat. I stunk and had to slink home…

I never did that again.

A friend of mine would moisten her finger with a perfume/cologne and touch it to her tongue. If it tasted nasty, she wouldn’t buy or use it. If it didn’t taste bad, it would work OK for her. Presumably it’s a way to check a fragrance’s compatability with one’s body chemistry.

CK One smells like bug spray when applied to my skin.

When I get a whiff of Joop for men, I have an instant, severe asthma attack.

I just need to vouch for Jersey’s Kate Spade perfume. It drives me crazy.

Some kind of novelty perfume that I came across in the store called “Halloween.” It was purple. It smelled pretty good, a bit odd, but good. A bought a cheap spritzer bottle, and they filled it up for me as a “sample.” Took it home, still smelled ok.

A week or so later, I got sick - which for me, strangely enough, means my sense of smell gets more accurate. I tried out the perfume -

it was pumpkin. They nearly talked me into buying a $40 bottle of pumpkin scented perfume.

I am addicted to Angel (Thierry Mugler). But when I first tried it, I did not like it. I was told to use it a few days because of some chemistry thing. Then I liked it and others noticed and said it smells good on me. I try something else now and then, but must have Angel.

Red Door was my signature scent for a while, but my chemistry must have changed, because it reminds me of a greek salad anymore.

My tried ‘n’ true is Chanel No. 5 Body Lotion. Mmmmmmm…

273 is way too flowery. I thought it would be nice but it sits still full in my medicine cabinet.

We should have a “what was I thinking” perfume swap
