Ever get scooped about an actor's crime / murder / suicide on IMDb?

Last night I was watching old Twilight Zone episodes and there was one I hadn’t seen in years - Jack Warden is the manager of the “Hoboken Zephyrs” and they hire a robot to pitch for them. Proud of my success in recognizing Jack Warden (OK, it wasn’t that hard) I could swear I recognized the actor that played the robot pitcher.

So today I went to IMDb to look him up. Though I couldn’t figure out from where I recognized him (probaby Gunsmoke) I did find this interesting tidbit in his biography:

 I remember finding out about the kids from Poltergeist in much the same way.

Any others out there in IMDb land that shocked / surprised you?

I also saw someone familiar in an old Twilight Zone episode. It took a while, but I finally realized where I’d seen him. Looked up the name on IMDb, it was Warren Oates, probably most recognizable as Sgt. Hulka in Stripes. Then I found out he died only about a year after that movie was released.

Dooku- who is the actor you mention in your OP?

I think my only real imdb surprise was finding out that the young actor who played Michael in Mary Poppins (Matthew Garber) died at the age of 21. Initially, the link to his name only said, “tragically, Garber died young” without details, but looking again now I see that the cause of death was pancreatitis.

Robert Sorrells

I didn’t find out through IMDB, but I had no idea Adrienne Shelly had been murdered until they started publicizing newly-pregnant Keri Russell and the movie she’s in that Adrienne Shelly had been directing when she was killed. In November. :smack: My father has a huge crush on her…I wonder why he never mentioned it??

One murder is a spree now? :dubious:
