Ever Had a Boss Who Quit?

To answer the question, yes, I’ve had a boss who was fired/resigned. He stole his company car when he left (a parting gift from Don Pardo?). He left his wife & kids to fend for themselves while he tried to recapture his twenties on the road with his sweet-young-thang and his stolen car. He managed to work/live off the books a year before he was found: dead and drawing flies somewhere near Baltimore.

Personally, I always thought he was a selfish SOB for doing that to his family and his company, but its probably rude to speak ill of the dead. I don’t think his family was even able to collect on his insurance, as it had lapsed (or maybe it was suicide & the company left that part out).

My original boss here left amicably. She was tired of corporate life, and packed it in to move East and have a go at running a coffeehouse.

Well, I’ve taken everyone’s advice to heart, and I will hold my tongue on my boss’ last day.

For the sake of clarity - she’s always been nice to me, more or less, although she did rip me a new one yesterday for something I totally didn’t do. I tried to speak up and defend myself, but I could tell by the look in her face that the matter wasn’t up for discussion. I figured pleading my case when she could no longer fire me for speaking up was the way to go, but now I see no point in it.

Thanks for all your replies.
