I was in Western Alaska for few years. Hearing of the storm I Googled TV and radio stations and clicked on an FM station in Fairbanks. The first page was a big splash; ’ The Emergency alert system has been closed due to the weather.’

I’ve gotten more information. It was a *scheduled *test of the Emergency Alert System that was canceled to avoid confusion with the possibility of an actual emergency. The original blurb did not indicate that scheduled test had been canceled. The original blurb said the system had been closed.
