Ever heard of "wiki wiki"? It's kinda strange.

I read about this concept in PC magazine called “wiki wiki” which is a website where anybody can come along and edit any page. Sort of like giving everyone administrator privileges. If there are no rules set up at the beginning, it becomes extremely disorganized very fast because it’s totally decentralized. It’s hard to explain, just start here and click around. Or google for “wiki.”

I suspect there is a deeper meaning in all this.

For about a year now, I’ve been working on an online encyclopedia called Wikipedia. Check it out at http://www.wikipedia.org .

Articles I’ve contributed to may be seen here:

What do you mean suspect a deeper meaning?

Some folks may not want to hear this, but when I get tired of some of the petty sniping that goes on here, I go read the wikipedia to see adult behavior.

It’s pretty cool. Not… uh, comprehensive or even in scope, but a nifty idea.

I thought ‘wiki wiki’ was Hawaiin for ‘quickly.’

It is.

BioPerl, a package that I use every day, used to have WikiDocs, but now the link is 404’ing.

Not only is Wiki-wiki Hawaiian for quickly, but it’s the name of the airport shuttle at Honolulu International Airport.
Moves faster than planes sometimes.

I don’t know. Something about a wiki wiki reminds me of the entire internet. Like a model of something within the thing that it’s a model of. Or not.
